From here:
http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/141412/?offset=4400#comment12267864Consensus generally is to go and try both at a shop, see which hood-shape and shift feel is most suited to your personal preferences

Don't worry Gaston, at the moment "everything else" is just velodrome. Veloflex ain't getting abused

got a stuck bb on my pelizzoli pista gp. i screwed it on the wrong side. i noticed pieces of metal coming out of the shell as i screwed it on.
used large hammer to force it out but to no avail. really stuck. does anyone know what I could to get it out? would drilling the bb be a good idea?
-
• #101605
put bb cup in bench vise, tighten vice, rotate frame, bb comes out

Ouch! Spent too much money this weekend. Found (and bought) this Moser Strada (Campa GS,pantographed stem, seatpost, chainrings,...).

• #101607
thanks for reply. just tried that but bugger does not even move for a bit.

I had the same problem with a stuck BB in an old steel frame. Made a large cut in it with a power saw an hammered it out with a chisel and a heavy hammer. Done it that way for couple of times and works well. Just be careful you don't ruin your frame...
-
• #101609
thanks.did you make that cut on the frame? or on the bb?
-
• #101610
put some effort into it then!
and remember, if you put the wrong cup in the wrong way, you might still be trying to tighten, not loosen - think about it before giving the hammer!
-
• #101611
Step away from the bike and take it to a shop if you are asking that.
-
• #101612
i am on cigarettes and beer, so not really fit.
you are right, it could be either way.
-
• #101613
i like doing things myself but in the end this might be the only option
-
• #101614
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, not the frame!
As someone else suggested: take it to a shop. They have special tools for that (my shopholder advised me the hammer and chisel because their tool didn't work).
-
• #101615
thanks, you are right i should take it to the shop.
btw, what's the plan with that Moser? keep it classic or carbon wheels, bars, etc.?
-
• #101616
Think I'll keep it classic. The bike is in exactly the same setup as the former owner took it from the shop he bought it about 35 years ago, so taking things off would be a shame. I bought this weekend an ex-teambike from the 1991 Panasonic Sportlife team and that might end up with a modern groupset. Have to take it apart before I decide. But one thing's for sure: both are great bikes/frames. Need a bigger garage now.

That sounds great. Good luck with it

-
• #101619

• #101620
Thanks.
-
• #101621
Thanks @Dakin and @timbre! Yes, the Alpina looks good, but as you know the overlap is quiet important! I'm learning to live with it ^^. Basically I wanted a black wheelset to do a full black build, but this set with Suzue and Dura Ace popped up on eBay for a fair price, so I bought it. I also had the chance to test a 3G:

New long term project for my brother in France.
52cm LOOK KG176 Carbon/Kevlar/Composite with a 54cm top tube.
Not much information online apart from that it is the High Modulus (HM) version of the KG172 from the mid 90's. Any more information welcome - there has been a few of these on the forum.
Nice maroon / deep purple colour with silver LOOK lacquered over sticker.
Groupset is a low end mixed bag with Sachs New Success RD, FD, headset & rear hub, CLB brakeset, Shimano 105 chainset & front hub, 3ttt quill stem & bars. Lovely Miche aero seatpost, pretty rare in 25.0mm.Probably soft restoration - better period groupset, silver bar tape & saddle.

Nice, looks sick with the spok (miss mine... Kinda not really)
The toe overlap is pretty nuts but you do get used to it
