• As the title suggests, I have a disc wheel but no means of pumping it. What's the best adapter for the money? Are the fancy Hirame ones worth it or can I get one for a tenner?

  • Check out the gadget at v-sprint (@varno) http://v-sprint.com/product/track-pack/track-pump-adaptor/

Whether it will fit your disc wheel is another matter.

  • Not use it on a disc wheel, though my Lezyne pump came with a pretty tight right angled adaptor - can imagine that would work (Lezyne (track) pumps are quite a cut above in any case IMO).

You can buy them (the adaptor) aftermarket though think you need the Lezyne pump to start with?

  • Thanks for that, it's a (much cheaper) clone of the Hirame one I was talking about.

I've seen the Lezyne thread on ones, which would make a lot of sense. Don't really want to buy a whole new pump though.

I don't know if anyone has used the £10 right angled ones that sort of have to be held on and whether the hassle is worth the £25 saving between that and the Varno one.

  • If you have 3 hands available the crack pibe will suffice.

  • Ha ha. That seems to be the consensus.

Looking at Wiggle the Lezyne steel drive ones are only £30 with the 'speed chuck'. May just have to do that, and not waste any more time on incredibly dull googling.

  • I like the KCNC one best, I have tried the Varno one but it isn't as well made as this:

  • The Lezyne one that @Dan_W linked to looks alright, they also do a plastic one and it's keich but then I think all their pumps are keich so...

  • Crack pipe, jam some cork or for me a highlighter pen with rubber outside into the valve and it will pump sufficient but will always be better with 4 hands.

  • I went with one of these Topeak adapters and it does exactly what I want it to do without the need to change the pump head.

  • I was looking at those; does the normal pump head just fit onto it as if it were a valve then?

  • Yeah. You just screw it onto the valve then put the pump head onto the other bit and pump up as normal. No need for three hands or any drastic changes to your pump.

  • That's ideal. Evans seem to sell them as well so I can actually get one before Tuesday night training. Cheers

  • I have Lezynes cheapest track pump with their speed chuck. Use it on my FFWD TT disc. One handed operation up to 150psi no problem.

  • Thanks. I got a Topeak pressure-rite in the end and it is brilliant. Nice one @bmxed, cheers for the tip. It took me a while to work out how to use it as it has the valve thing in it which stops air escaping, but once I worked it out (will work when pressure on pump and tube side is equal) it's exactly what I was after.
