The fact Tao isn't attacking (will, maybe can't!), and JH is, cements that TT inequality they both recognise

I think they fancy Tao on the TT, so Hindley needs to take lots of time. The earlier he attacks, the larger his potential buffer margin for tomorrow. Mentally that turns Tao into the defender today, especially if they're together at the top.
