Analog film photography and cameras

A question for you film-heads... I've just got hold of a Pentax Espio Mini, and had a roll of Precisa CT cross-processed and scanned at Eye Culture, and I'm less than happy with the results. Any idea why they're coming out so green and high contrast? I've had both normal colour and B&W processed from the same camera and have been happy with the results and thought I'd get nicer photos with the Precisa, but obviously not...

Yeah I think that might be the case - anyone know where to get Precisa CT processed without cross-processing it?

I press all my film first under some heavy books to keep it flat. makes a huge difference.

High contrast is inevitable with cross processing.

..I'd say "sometimes it turns out green".
This has happened to me every now and then in the last 10 years, at different labs, with different film, with different cameras..
So most of the time it was the "usual" cross processed look - high contrast, vivid, blues go turquois-ish, bright reds go magenta-ish.. and then sometimes all goes very green, and also (on rare occasions) all the things go magenta.
It's a roulette.

Last year with CT precisa I also got the "normal" xpro-look, like these -

and also the greenish look like these -

Also (assuming you did not scan them yourself) - xpro is difficult to scan / if they (or you) use some kind of auto-colour option, and the negs are already pretty greenish for example, then the auto colour may well even enhance this.

If they are pretty curved this takes overnight, which is, of course, very annoying.

hmm yeah starting to think that this may not have been the best purchase... why cant someone just make a brand new kodak pakon that doesn't cost the earth!

Keep an eye out on the Pakon users forum on facebook, often ones from Europe pop up for sale.

The one with the cranes is very nice!

Thanks man, I just got a couple rolls done at uni and I feel like with some persistence and your wise words of using it in full manual, it could be worthwhile keeping. I dunno summer is coming and I cba to lug a slr around all the time. We shall see!

I don't actually use full manual but I can see when it could be handy!
The latest trick I've learnt is...
Set the main dial to P, and aperture to 22. Press MF and 999 will appear, this is kinda infinity focus. With those settings and the right film everything will be sharp and in focus meaning you can shoot ninja quick street photos.
I'm yet to see the results so trying a couple that way each roll...

I'm on placement in southend until thursday, both poundlands here have loads if you need.
Not the 36 shot rolls though...
