Ha. I work for financial tech company. As a home owning white middle class male I won't get much of the shit from tory policies but I deplore everything they do and stand for.

The 1922 committee will be in the driving seat now. Even with a majority Cameron will need to keep them on side.

Well done to Caroline Lucas.

I hope every single Labour MP who campaigned against proportional representation during the referendum is feeling proud of themselves this morning.

We've made a terrible mistake. Terrible.
Slept 11.30-3.30 and that was perfect. Other half wanted to go back to bed at 5 but I wanted breakfast. Was persuaded to have another few hours sleep and I now I feel rubbish.
Also, the country is fucked. When I went to bed it still looked like the Tories wouldn't have enough seats to get a majority. This is awful.

The results map is also looking depressingly like the US, almost total split between Labour in the cities and Cons in the sticks.
-
• #584
Hurrah for the sticks then.
-

Its not going to get any better because the Tories will be pushing through their boundary changes as soon as they can.

Terrible night

You poor bastards. And any non-tory voters who voted against PR, you're mugs.
-
• #590
Generally, I'd agree, but then the third biggest party would be UKIP ???
-
• #591
It would be interesting to see how people would vote if it was some form of PR as it all but eliminates the concept of a protest or tactical vote.
-

Ed Balls has lost his seat. Fucking hell this is an unmitigated disaster for Labour.
-
• #593
What a blood bath. The Tory campaign, that I and many thought was misguided and and negative, absolutely nailed it. Fear and negativity, personal attacks and deceitfulness win the day.
-
• #594
Didn't they have some American political strategist working for them on their tactics?
-
• #595
Aussie Lynton Crosby.

Misguided yes, negative, not so much. They were hugely negative about Labour but they had a positive message about jobs and the economy. I think one of Labour's mistakes was to spend too much time attacking the Tories and not enough time setting out a convincing pitch of their own. They clearly failed to convince the country that they could be trusted on the economy.

Complete and utter Balls up there by labour.

Welp

When Cameron was in the city and had that "pumped up" speech I thought he was conducting his own job interview, that he was angling for a hedge fund job in the near future.
Now I am worried that he actually said this as a politician and that for the next 5 years bankers will get whatever legislation (or lack thereof) they ask for. How long until the next financial shit blizzard? -

That's crazy talk- letting the financial sector do whatever they want is bound to be best for Britain.
