That's an interesting concept - voters unable to own what they've done (UKIP) admitting to the lesser evil to the pollster (Con).

The first three seats declared to the Labour.

Here's hoping that the pollsters just don't know how to react to unprecedented support for non-major parties, and that the Tories won't get nearly their predicted share of seats...

Not even watching Paddy Ashdown eat his own hat would make the predicted results palatable

The first three seats always declare for Labour, they're safe north-east seats. It's in the early morning when all the rural seats in the home counties start returning that the Tories will surge ahead.

Everyone gone to bed? It's only 7:30pm for me, a much more civilised way of watching the election.

6am till 10:30pm, long days work on the election poll. Busy but not crazy. Loads of press photographers. Now working how to spend my election wages on LFGSS.

Hmm... The local UKIP seem to be very interested with the counting on my constituency table. Please no...

(I'm babysitting the Leeds count at work so have to resist the urge to tell them where to stick their policies.)

Ha UKIP have a candidate named Przemek Skwirczyński in Tooting (a first generation Polish immigrant standing for a party that wants to cut EU immigration)

been drafted in to work to cover any events the election throws up. at the moment the markets are fairly muted on it even though cable rallied 150 points after the first exit polls were announced.
any big hitters at risk from losing their seats? ed balls? lets hope so....

Good news: George Galloway is apparently about to lose Bradford West and has been reported to police for tweeting about about exit polls before voting closed.

Bad news: George Galloway plans to run for mayor of London if he gets kicked out of Bradford.

Mr_Sword I've done the counting once in 1996 when Labour won. I won't do the count again, there's too many tellers asking for a re count of your vote tally. It's much easier doing the poll and more cash even if it's a longer day.

i worked the poll once when i was really young. must have been 18 or so.
just basically sat on a chair behind a table and did nothing all day whilst all the other busy bodies got involved. was long day for £120 or whatever it was

While I'm very happy for the SNP on their results, I'm not sure how much point there will be in having 40/50 SNP MPs, if they are in opposition. In a coalition they can really advance Scotland's agenda, but if the Conservatives have a majority, and no Scottish MPs as part of that, what can the SNP really do.

They can keep dropping the words 'another referendum' in to their conversation and see what Cameron will offer to get them to be quiet.

Lib Dems are going to regret ever going into government with the Conservatives. I get that the point of being elected is to try and govern, and I don't blame them for trying, but if they aren't careful, this could be the end for them. They'll have to do something special in the next 5 years...
