  • You're only the 3rd person to suggest something I've been using for the past 3 years.. :P

  • I want it before Friday, for a 400 this weekend so, thanks but no thanks.
TT sextensions are ok in some audax - British stuff for example. Not ok in PBP though.
have number on back = race
have number on frame = race
have number on bars = sportive
have number on helmet = tri/sportive
have number on skin = tri

  • Ha

But if you mount the adaptor at the end of the extension and then bar tape over it it'll be out infringe of your hands.

  • Then where will the shifter go?

  • What does your current set up look like?
    Think I've misunderstood, or so.

  • My current setup is a wider version of this

Without the bodged Garmin mount, obviously.

  • And that's not far forward enough?

    /I'm out.

  • No, I mean the bars. I don't have a mount like that. Hence me asking for solutions. I'm not sure that mount above would last the vibration from British goat tracks.

  • Oh.

Yeah then do what I said.
Get that adaptor and then put a garmin out front mount on it. Maybe try the new garmin mount as it raises it up a bit. or the K-edge XL

Unless your bars are too close and your shifters would then hit the garmin.

Then it's time to buy r2c or di2.

  • Weather permitting, I'll be with the Middlesex on the H10/2 on Wednesday

Well I guess the weather didn't permit Tester to ride, and fair enough it was fucking blustery, seemingly from every direction and not the head out/tail back I expected.

Nice bunch of guys though, and I got to compare my bike to someone's Cantiflex Bates.

  • Cantiflex

    Diadrant fork too.

  • Hi @hippy
Mine is an old Crank Brothers aluminium mini-pump barrel. I filed the ends so that they match the radii of the aero-bars, which stops the bodged-bit from rotating. Very slightly wider than the internal bar pitch, so a snug fit.

Plenty of room for hands, and perfect for eye-line, easy viewing not too much neck movement needed.

Around 20 000 miles with it so far, confident secure mount.

Also shown are the Electron LED lamps under-slung.

  • @hippy 's looks moar aero.

  • That's similar to the Shiv setup I have. I'm waiting on Amazon's so-called next day delivery of the Zipp BTA setup though... hmmpf

  • Ah, no doubt, and I'd be better with those lights elsewhere, for sure . If I were to use shallow oval cross-section tubing for the cross strut, instead of circular, I guess that would help a lot.

  • Zipp BTA

I wonder if I could use that to mount my light. Hmm.

  • Well, still no Amazon so no fucking idea.. le sigh

  • Just finished work, the likelihood of me making it to Windsor in time is approximately 0.

  • After a grumpy, wheezy mid 27 for a rolling ten last week I wasn't expecting much on the F2A tonight but Garmin says 24.3mph, which I think puts me under 25 minutes. I think I may have even gone a bit faster if I'd been brave enough to go 85" instead of 80".

Under 25 was the tipping point Id set for me starting to fit aero tat. Results won't be up until tomorrow but I think I might be fitting some tri bars at the weekend...

Sub 24 by the end of the season is the target and then the disc can go on.

  • Fuelling for 100s, any tips? Got a few thoughts but interested to hear other's experiences. @hippy?

Ps selling my Vuka carbon extensions, super duper comfy and mega light but place my hands just a bit too low with my current bars. Bit cheaper for on here types.

  • How much you want? I might offload my fixed Shiv bars when I fit new ones and I'd like straight ones.

Fueling for 100s. Test stuff. I spent ages finding what works and how much to use. I'm on Torq now (just got big resupply). I ride them slow enough that I can use bars but really gels work best for me. 500ml per hour plus a gel. But each person is different. You might need more or get away with far less.

  • Nutrition wise it's worth looking at stuff with more than just carbs in - proteins and fats to stop you metabolising them from yourself.

Hammer perpeteum is what a lot of pro triathletes use (spendy though) there is a my:protein product called tri carb that i use for longer races...

  • I disagree. Find me evidence that ingesting a macronutrient other than carbohydrates will make you go faster in a 100. And why wouldn't you want to use fat during a race? There's no way you can avoid some fat metabolism anyway.
