well done Chelsea. made it clear at the beginning of the season they were going to do what was needed to win it. then won it.
a handful of genuine player of the season nominees in the side as far as I am concerned. Obviously, Hazard, but Matic, Ivanovic and Costa also.
good to see a strong finish from Arsenal. we will hopefully cling on to 4th.
just going to enjoy the relegation battle now. and a summer of rolling and yentzing.

Ancelotti? I'm not sure why he'd come to Liverpool.
If Rodgers does get shitcanned (I'd like to see him get another year), I'd want Klopp to get the job, though I suspect he'll end up at either Bayern or Man City, depending what Guardiola does.
Beyond that I'm don't really know who would be next. Considering we aren't a CL team, but Rodgers isn't that bad. Koeman maybe?
Bookies are saying Klopp or Benitez, but I suspect that's mainly because people are betting with emotion, not sense.
Just not Carra.

Surely Slippy G - it always works out when a legend takes over as manager.
-
• #117081
Oh jesus. A Gerrard/Carra combo. The fans would love it.
-
• #117082
Brendan is@par. Calling for anything else is mostly misguided.

A Gerrard/Carra combo.
I pray for this. Like all the people who prayed for Di Canio to take over...

Lib Dems are top notch at praying. The best available on the market.

That juve goal was a thing of beauty. Really nice build up play..

It is a pity that Slippy G is contracted to go to the US because it would be marvellous for him to be player manager next season at Liverpool. It would really cement his position. Perhaps Rodgers could hold on for a year or two.

Contracts to go to the US don't mean anything for ledges though..

Chelsea Players who have become managers
Tommy Docherty - player manager - did well. Formed basis of the team with whom Sexton won the Cup. Resigned after six years. Went on to manage a few lesser sides.
Eddie McCreadie - took over at a tough time when cost of new stand spiralled and almost killed the club. Hugely popular. Resigned when car he was promised did not materialised. Mopved to the US and managed there, presumably with a car.
Ken Shellito. One season at the nadir of Chelsea's fortunes. Left when Chelsea were facing relegation. Went to Cambridge United and then to Malaysia.
John Hollins. Won Full Members Cup. Took Chelsea to 6th place and then was sacked as he took them down towards relegation. Almost three years. Managed various minor teams such as Crawley and QPR.
David Webb. Short stint replacing the atrocious Porterfield. Picked club up off floor and delivered to a safe 11th place. Not reappointed as Hoddle came in. Went on to Brentford, Yeovil and Southend.
Glenn Hoddle (player manager). Three years. Brought in fresh new talent that would be back bone of side for next decade. Left for England and lunacy.
Ruud Gullit. (player manager) just under two years. Suddenly sacked. Brought radical changes and improved on Hoddle. Suddenly sacked and went to Newcastle.
Gianluca Vialli (player manager) Two and a half years. Brought great success. Suddenly sacked by Bates for Ranieri. Went on to Watford and beyond.
Roberto di Matteo Came in as caretaker manager. Won CL and FA Cup. Sacked and went on to Schalke.
And so what do we learn from that??
Not much really. Former players are attractive as managers but don't necessarily achieve much. Few go on to manage at the same level afterwards.
I think Liverpool needs Gerard.

I got a ticket for Saturday! I can't wait/am nervous.

I'm crapping myself already.

The atmosphere has got to be better than Saturday was. In a way it's a godsend that we're playing Norwich, I think the tension has taken a lot of wind out of the support and hopefully the fact that it's a derby means it will be a lot more positive.
There were times on Saturday when we were still leading, but you could have heard a pin drop in the away end. I doubt that will be allowed to happen this week.

Well done to chelsea, most effective team in the league

This game is a cracker, barca are all over bayern.
They are so much more direct now, balls over the top for neymar or Suarez to chase.
With Suarez in the team they finally have that plan b everyone always said they needed if the tiki taka wasn't sufficient.
Neuer's the only reason bayern are still in this game.
Iniesta and messi are making it really difficult on bayern, looks like they are intent on showing how good they really are.Ps watching a German team in a German pub is an experience..

Strange to say this but not sure barca have anyone on the bench who can make the difference in the final fifteen mins. Who do you replace Suarez, neymar and/or messi with.
Not sure pedro cuts it despite how many important goals he's scored in big games. -

right after I posted Messi goes and scores, great pressing, winning the ball back high up the pitch, onto left foot and bang.
Have the feeling this tie is all but over, at two down, Bayern still had a little hope, but at three it looks impossible, especially when all Barca have to do is score one to make them have to score five!!
and the woman's world cup
