  • Was interesting to see they do a TT version which puts them in the domain of Mdcc Tester, i could see the advantage for helping on windy days, minimal gains an all that

Not so much minimal gains as no gains at all. I've ridden motorbikes with more steering damper than they need*, and I can assure you that's the last thing I'd want on a bicycle. On a TT bike, it would be truly horrible. More than a bicycle needs is any steering damper.

*I've also had an epic tank-slapper on a VFR750 (RC24 or RC36, can't remember which as I've ridden both), so it's fair to say I've also ridden motorbikes with less steering damper than they need :-)

  • I like this forum :)

If i ever get a frame mounted dynamo hub powered rail gun then i might splash out and try a damper for rail discharge while rolling :)

Seems a bit silly, you clearly don't need any special bike parts for shooting while mounted, but the MTB-Biathlon regulations prohibit mounted shooting anyway.

  • Do you have a close up of that cut out/back wheel? Had to do a double take. Looks fun!

  • bike parts for shooting weapons whilst on a bike, what a silly idea.

  • It needs a tyre aboit 21c to fit neatly, 23c ultremo catch the paint with grit from the road.

Back end is as short as they get aside a frame with a pierced or twin seat tubes, or something like an mkm ultimate tt

  • That's sick! Very cool. Love this picture:

  • ^Yes!

  • I wish I was a little bit smaller so this would fit me. However, it never will without ridonkulous saddle-bar drop. Stupid Raleigh only made 53, 58 and 62 (?) versions of this. Shame a previous owner got rid of the original shifters and replaced the bars and stem with something shit, as the Cinelli cockpit I've put on doesn't really 'belong'.

Rear rack is original, I wish I had the front :(

The original spec is 'shimano z levers' - does anyone know what that could mean? The group is Deore XT but with downtube shifters, it was in a strange crossover period when Shimano made XT road stuff, it seems.

  • Got my Big Block back from having the rear triangle re-tracked, mudguard eyelets brazed on to the rear, and powdercoated. Still a few little odd things to tidy up and mudguards to fit.

  • no half measures; belt drive, disc brake, great colour. biek4lyfe

  • This is the last post about bartape, I swear!

Probably went from the best combination (black saddle and bartape) to the least best (white saddle and blue bartape).

Argh, too lazy to rewrap. Might just get another cockpit after all and wrap that in another colour...

And thanks @Carabo for the tape!

@allensea: That's solid! Is that the 'coupler' near the rear brake bridge to remove the belt?

  • Blue tape works well. Black/black is just the safe option.

  • The blue tape works on that paint job, you should take the opportunity as mismatched saddle/tape doesn't suit many builds.

  • There all pretty good. Black is too safe and generic.

  • What @Rodolfo says... this is great!

  • spot on. with guards and rack, ideal city bike.

  • Blue.
    Black is too safe

  • Thanks for the input fellas. White and blue it is (for now). Partly because I'm too lazy to change it (for the third time) :p

  • What's the fork?

  • Built this as a turbo bike today (hence the non-matching rear; there is another Ksyrium to go there). It seems a huge waste though.

I don't have a huge use for another steel road bike though as I do any road riding on this:

  • My next long term project:

  • Go for orange! ;)
