Ok, so this is the route we did on the way out: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2481880
From memory, the first 25km are a bit meh. At 33k you take the right turn into the farm, it looks wrong but it isn't.
This was the way back: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2481927
The first 10k are the best, there's an unappealing stretch of A road through Farnborough that you could definitely improve on, then you're kind of back in town, though I recall this being less shit than the way out.
This isn't a huge amount of help, is it. Sorry... -

Thanks so much for digging this out. really appreciate it. the middle 10km look lovely, will def use them in a route.
Tbh i might just get a train to sevenoaks and forget about the slog out into the lanes, bit lame but hey ;) -

(apologies, I don't know how to draw lines on embedded maps)
A suggestion to avoid the Farnborough A road- when you join the Sevenoaks road in Green st.Green, don't turn right, keep going to the roundabout with the A21. Go straight across, and then right onto Old Hill. Follow until Shire Lane, turn left, then first left onto High Elms Rd. Follow this to Downe, turn right onto Rookery Rd- New Rd Hill- Downe Rd. At roundabout, right then left onto Church road- Jackass lane- Gates green rd- Coney Hill Rd- and rejoin original route.
A little hilly, but much nicer than that road.

Here, think this is it, looks really nice :)

This is very late, but the end bit aim for Richmond park instead of the a3! Leave Richmond park by ham gate and follow the road more or less straight it'll take you to teddington lock bridge, nicer and more direct than a3 to kingston.
I'd also head over kew bridge... But this is probably 2 months late so I'll stop there!

In return does anyone have a vaguely pleasant route to swinley from southwest London?
Will be on a mountain bike (obvs) so don't mind muddy track, but don't really mind fast dual carriage ways either... Just incase I'm missing some obvious short cuts?

Does anyone have a quite Essex 50-60km loop?

Does anyone have a quite Essex 50-60km loop?
Standard run out and back to Blackmore? About 50 miles, so a bit longer, but you can always shorten it a little by not going to the caff.
Head out via your preferred route--either Snaresbrook Road, underpass under the railway, up towards Chigwell, or via Buckhurst Hill and Chigwell. Then Lambourne End, Stapleford Abbotts, Navestock, Kelvedon Hatch (two ways of approaching it--either via Kelvedon Common or Navestock Side), Hook End, and Blackmore. There's a choice of routes back from Blackmore, too.
Pretty much anywhere in Essex is 'quite Essex', of course. :)

It's just a hunch Dimi but I reckon you meant quiet.
It is very hard to do a truly quiet Essex route that long because you never get far enough away from London.
You could try the route below, but be warned that beyond 23 miles is highly experimental and involves some off road. Quite how off road I don't know as I don't actually seem to ride any more so haven't tested it :(

Thanks! That's pretty much my normal "short" route, was thinking there will be some better options
-
• #438
That is a bit off road, along the canal, which isn't ideal, thanks anyway.

Is this pretty good?

@Cazakstan This is a route I've taken before Caz. I think I copied the official BHF route. It's really quite nice just don't ride it in a thunderstorm. We rode it for the Womens 100 last year and it pissed down the whole way. I'm wishing you better weather.

What sort of distance and anything particular you want to see?
-
• #448
In terms of distance I have all day so the longer the better really, I'm in no particular rush to get stuck into thebstag weekend......
I lived in Aberdeen for 6 years so know the general Cairngorms and coastal areas fairly well, So anything inland heading around Aberfeldy or Pitlochry way would be great.
Also not adverse to jumping into Fife as I've done Edinburgh - Anstruther -st Andrews and it was lovely.

I'll post up a route tonight, spent a year studying in Dundee and rode extensively there.
This thread kills my phone browser so can't post anything whilst at work.

Wonderful, much appreciated. This thread kills my phoeb too.
We used to have a big rivalry with the Dundee teams on the hockey pitch and we had some great nights out with them around the city. We'd always end up in the Mardi or Fat sams (whatever it was called by the end)
Halcyon (and stupid) days.

Thanks!
