Surely any modern radio controlled watch is on par with that in terms of accuracy, not even you could fit that on your wrist!

I'm sure they are but this was made 250 years ago and is accurate to 5/8ths of a second over 100 days....!!

It was made recently but to Harrison's designs of 250 years ago.
It's not the "most accurate clock in the world" but the "most accurate mechanical clock with a pendulum swinging in free air".

Cheers - I love it but it's very similar to my Oris TT1 which my now wife bought me when we got engaged (and therefore cannot be sold) so I might end up selling it on at some point

you hiding the cufflinks though...

Thanks... It's the first time I've been hit with charges in 4 orders... Interestingly, the others were all by FedEx/UPS and this one was EMS so that may be the difference.
I couldn't actually find it in the UK, so not sure about any saving... I'm happy with it in spite of the charges though!

This is my Oris
My Dad told me a story about my grandmother, dear little lady of the blitz spirit generation who died a couple of decades ago when I was a lad. She had a dainty watch, made by Oris. Apparently it tickled her pink to say things like 'this is my Oris'. Uncontrollable giggles. Well, we are from Hull; you had to make your own fun. #csb

If i buy a watch from Spain online, and have it shipped, am i liable for VAT / import duty (or whatever they trump up)?
Or are EU purchases exempt? (wishful thinking)Looking at about €1200 (~£860) all in
-
• #16172
@DethBeard EU is exempt, they may charge Spanish VAT on it (although normally that would be included in the price unless they're targeting out of EU customers).
-
• #16173
The price you pay at the checkout will be the total cost - HMRC (and therefore Royal Mail etc) cannot add any additional duty/VAT onto it, as Spain is part of the EU/EEC

Would it be big enough for your wrist?
Very nice indeed, shame about the charges though. I've thankfully got off without them the two times I've ordered from them. Still, I imagine it's still a nice net saving.
