Sounds like you need a device which shows a map and allows you to customise the data fields below it?

Yeah, except the Garmin 800 doesn't allow that. It has one map 'page' and you have to flick to the data page to see Power/Time/Speed/etc data.
What I'd like is to get rid of the pointless 'Street Name' header info and replace it with a 1 or 2 value display so I could have one big power readout or maybe an average power and 3s power readout.

I'm going to be running it alongside the 800 during audax. The problem I have is that I need to eyeball the map all the time but then I can't see my power, which means I'm not doing my training properly.
Obviously Garmin should have a split map function that allows a row above the map to show one or two fields of ANT+ data but they suck, so instead I'll buy another one of their devices..
