If lurking in this thread has taught me anything it's that nobody wants to hear that stuff, ever.

Question on Stages please: I have a Dura Ace 7900 BB, and then a Shimano compact crankset (not entirely sure what R something?, could find out if important).

If I went with Stages is the Shimano 105 compatible? Or only the more expensive Dura Ace 7900? Or neither. There's virtually no weight saving between the two.

What's the smallest head unit that will talk to my Powertap? Probably the Powertap Joule, right? What about the lower spec. Garmin models? The 510 or 210? Do they both do ANT+ power?

Edge 500 does ANT+ you can get them for £130 and if it ever dies Garmin will replace for £70 or so

Mine died after 3 years of daily use when I wore through the rubber bezel and Garmin were fine. "Refurb" unit replacement was brand new.

Anything on the 510 I'd want over the 500?

500 can still do GPS tracks, yeah? So I could use it as a backup GPS for audaxes?

510 got glonas so better reception.

I've just bought an 810 so my 500 is going up for sale, I guess. Battery still lasts forever, which is nice...gonna have to get used to the 810's slightly more limited usage.
