  • Curious that with degenerating discs you want to go lower.. Which discs are degenerating.... I ve C6 problems at present....

  • Going lower means less weight is stacked on the discs, the discs are now substantially thinner than they should be and the vertebrae have been wearing against each other.

My folding bike is the least comfortable as I am in the most sit up and beg position, road and skidder bikes are fairly identical with approx 8.5 cm saddle to bar drop. This bike was not so good earlier this year, I had set it up with about 7.5 cm drop but got better when I move the bars lower.

Had decided to return to my fit data from years ago when I was not doing so much yoga but even on the 3 mile ride home I was feeling more of the road buzz in my spine. Will try it again tomorrow when working and then consider juggling spacers until I find the sweet spot.

My bad discs are l2-l3 and l3-l4.

  • You can't really adjusted the reach on Shimano hydraulic sadly as the stroke adjustment are almost nonexistent.

I find putting more oil in helped.

  • Reach adjustment doesn't appear to be needed for me.

If you need to see page 33 here http://si.shimano.com/php/download.php?file=pdf/dm/DM-BR0008-00-ENG.pdf

  • I do know, I bled the same system as well, the problem I found is that if I adjust the levers closer, it'll likely to bottom out due to the lack of stroke adjustment (they exist but doesn't quite work).

  • Hang the bike front wheel up, this will send any air bubbles to the lever, then just bleed by attaching the cup full of hydraulic fluid to the bleed port on the lever. Then keep pulling the brake lever just to get the last air out and more fluid in.

  • No burping so far. Tyres holding pressure and so much more comfortable than the Marathon Supremes (32 or 35mm) that were previously on the bike. Also they roll much more easily.

  • Update / mini review on the brakes?

    Endos4dayz?

  • Brakes are fucking awesome. Great feel and very powerful. Dragged the brakes down a hill to bed them in, sprayed water on them and the rear one steamed so it is properly bedded in, the front needs another go, but even so ridiculously powerful.

  • Other way is to inject it from the brake caliper and wait for the cup to get a bit fill.

    Quicker this way.

  • Lovely bit of cable management there. Very clever.

  • Thats the way I do it. Love Shimano hydros compared to most others for servicing. Not done one for a while though.

  • How are you finding the Schwalbe Ones now, @dancing james?

  • lovely, rolling really well compared to the marathon supremes that were on their, more comfort and better grip. it looks like there are plans afoot for an even larger volume One tyre, so would consider upgrading that way when these need replacing. given the benefit of tubeless and the hope that small punctures won't cause problems i see myself continuing to have the wheels set up this way. the reason for the marathons was puncture protection not durability.

removed one bit of embedded flint from the front tyre - need to find some time to let out the air and glue the slit up, but a little anxious as the rear tyre was so difficult to seat.

  • Mine refuse to stay in the bead socket, but inflate fine, ping and pop, and once up don't lose pressure. Weird. About 500 miles on them now like that.

  • Your tyres aren't seated but still stay up?

Weird - I'd blame your mechanic!

  • I'm moderately confident they are in the bead socket - they just don't stay there without air in 'em.

Not great, I know. Any idea how much pressure went in to yours? Didn't take mine above 80psi when mounting, run them at 60psi.

  • Mine were taken to 100, the tyres can take it and so can the rims.

  • Apparently there are some issues with Schwalbe Ones and Alphas, but these are running on Grails.

Ah well, I suspect that if they were going to go, they'd have gone pretty quickly, rather than lasting 500 miles and Roubaix.

  • Chain, cassette and chainrings were worn out.

    So replaced a few parts
