£1300 with Hydro discs, mudguard mounts, Praxis rings etc, quite plain but not bad. Seems good for the price?

It's a hybrid. Burn it with fire.

It's cheap because it's an alu frame, £1200-1400 is a pretty standard price for a full hydraulic with R685 shifters/brakes.
-
• #6657
Ah fair play, I thought full hydro went for a few hundred more than that. Still, it's good to see decent brakes on a relatively cheap bike.

Light Alu frame options?
Here's the caveat - I've just had a bike fit that rules out traditional geometry and low front ends - So CAAD 10 and Kinesis Aithein are out. The Bowman palace is still in contention and Canyon Ultimate AL. Anyone got any other ideas?

Genesis Zero 3 (which I've tested and is nice / a good size).
Pros: Fits, looks nice, well reviewed and lightweight frame, I can have a matching winter bike (Equilibrium), can trade in a scrap bike to get £100 off (let me know if you have one that I can buy!)
Cons: Pricey for what you get in terms of kithttp://www.londonbicycleworkshop.com/94148/products/genesis-zero--3-105-2015-matte-black.aspx
Or Cube Agree GTC SL
Pros: Better groupset and marginally better wheels than the Genesis
Cons: will have to hunt one down to try it (through Cycle Surgery probably), a bit of a snore brand?FIGHT!

I'd go for the cube purely because I think the genesis frame looks gash /personaltastes

I'm curious. How are the Canyon and Bowman on the list due to fit (whilst the Caad10 isn't)? I'd have thought Bowman and Caad measurements are pretty close.
Is this a reach issue?
-
• #6664
Bowman Palace have a much shorter reach for the size compare to the CAAD10;
50cm - 360 / 520
52cm - 366 / 528
54cm – 373 / 540
56cm - 386 / 562
58cm - 397 / 577The 54cm Palace have the same reach as a 50cm CAAD10 with a slightly taller headtube;

^ spot on ed, I was pleasantly surprised when comparing the geos, cannondale is very traditional (long and low) Where the bowman has a much shorter top tube for the size
-
• #6666
And canyon's have massive headtubes always
-
• #6667
One thing I like about the Bowman is that appearance wise, it still look traditional;
Unlike this;

Cannondale would give me exactly same issue as my steamroller, which has been the cause of alot of back complaints and physio trips

A thrilling update - I actually made a decision and got a Zero 3. First impression is that it's a rocket :) Mega stiff compared to my Equilibrium and generally a very smooth ride. Need some crabon cages and to start saving for wheels and other carbon fancies too.
Really enjoying 5800 with a semi compact chainset too, makes a lot of sense for Surrey roads. Might need to think about a wider range cassette for the Alps trip I'm flirting with...
TLDR: new bike day.

I doubt they'll be as steep as the Surrey Hills, 52/36 with 11-28 is ample for the Alps, but then YMMV.
I loved the Genesis Volare, it's a fantastic bike until I went over 100km realising just how stiff it is.
Now I can understand why Genesis made the Zero.

Edmonds S5 is good.
Still prefer my cannondale. But the saddle choice is making me question if I truly find the arione as comfy as I'd thought... -

Kurve snake .. simples
Think it looks pretty fucking sweet tbh - actually the first time I've preferred the aesthetics of Ultegra over Dura Ace.
