  • If you want someone local-ish I can recommend David Parrish - 01274 724749.

He's commission based so won't cost you owt, just have to trust that he's after the best deal for you rather than him. It's no exaggeration to say that without his help and knowledge of each lender's survey processes I'd could well have missed out on my place.

  • I had this problem only last week. I used @sacredhart's mate who was spot on. Where are you based? He's south east, PM me for details.

  • @sacredhart - aren't they a pipefiddler?

  • He is but, not gas

  • hammer

  • I'll be so glad to move out of here. Yesterday, actual crack whores effing and cnuting all the way down my street, back and forth, tears, fucking this, you that - to her equally spaced out mate.
Oi, im on a conference call!

  • so my builder is making progress on my place.

4 weeks in and the majority of the loft is done with first fix plumbing and electric installed. first fix on first floor bathroom is done also. place is like a proper building site so i've had to bail and stay @princeperch place for a few days.

  • You know how you never really know how your own home smells? Well I spent a week away, came home and am happy to report that ours smells delicious; woody, clean and slightly citrussy.

  • That's the smell of my cologne

    #wagglyeyebrows

  • Exciting (relatively speaking) times. Radiators on walls where there were none, shiny new boiler in the kitchen, new cylinder upstairs and a pile of pipework waiting to be used

  • Got another viewing later this evening. The place needs a new kitchen but otherwise looks nice. Also has a garden where the cat can do cat things.

  • oh jeez don't start the debate about the cost of new kitchens again....

  • Jeez...?

    Where...?
    Quick!
    Where?!?!

  • Thank you, I'll check him out.

The estate agents say they have their own in-house IFA but I'm a little dubious about that.

Would it make the buy easier?

  • Double post

  • Often agents will prioirtise a buyer who is going through the agent's mortgage broker, because the company then doubles up on commission.
    But they shouldn't.

They aren't usually the most clued up advisors, and it is less likely that they will hunt out the lender best aligned to your needs and circumstances and more likely that they will have you sign for the lender who pays them the biggest wedge.

  • The fucks 2 steps up the chain are being slow fucks again. They set a date, us and the next guy agreed, they went quiet, the fucks. Things seem to be happening but might be a bit of a pain to get it all done on Friday.

  • This is what I suspected.

  • Have you exchanged contracts?

  • I think that was meant to be done today and complete on Friday, I think there is a chance we can now do both on Friday. Mortgage companies have requested funds and shit so hopefully should all still go ahead.

  • So six weeks in after getting the keys we're still not in. Why are builders totally incapable of sticking to the deadlines they give you?

The next hold up would seem to be the IKEA kitchen. Apparently the modular system hangs on rails.

However there is no space or adjustability left go pipework etc.
Anyone had an IKEA kitchen experience?

Just cut out the backs of the cabinets?

  • Thats standard in IKEA kitchens, we had our wiring into the wall, behind the plaster, and the pipes routed to run under the cupboards.

  • Foxtons are opening near me in Bromley. Just had a letter offering a 0% commission sale if I register in first 100 customers.
