  • We're onto Wiggo now, keep up.

  • Wiggo's in June, plenty of time to organise something more interesting.

At least the Pursuit doesn't take very long, but even pursuit sessions at the Track Champs are dull as ditchwater.

  • ^Haha, I always thought it was "dull as dishwater". You learn something pointless everyday!

  • Perhaps the Hour Record thread is not the one for you. There's an MTB thread over there >>> and the Great British Weather thread is also riveting.

  • The record itself, and the analysis of the efforts, yes please.

    Actually watching it? No.

  • I look forward to watching the very short "How The Race Was Won" episodes on their efforts.

    #RIPTWIB

  • Pfft MTV generation..

  • Let's talk about that. I didn't get really why he flounced because every reference he makes to anything seems couched in so many layers of sarcasm I don't understand what point he's trying to make.

Is he upset because people aren't paying him or something? Do you have to read all his tweets to get what he's on about? He just alludes to all this stuff in the videos.

  • I didn't really get it either but I think that

Is he upset because people aren't paying him or something?

This is pretty much the gist of it. Essentially, I think he puts a lot of effort into producing the videos, and I think puts himself under quite a lot of pressure to produce them on some kind of schedule. I think it's just a bit too much to maintain while trying to keep on top of work and a personal life as well. I think he's come to the conclusion that it just isn't worth the fuss to put all that effort in for free.

  • I don't know anything about making money from youtube, but it seems that his videos get a decent number of views... the Roubaix edition of HTRWW seems to have had 15k+ views in just a day or so, but he only has 15,000 subscribers and most of his videos fail to hit 10k views so I'm not sure how monetisable it is really.

  • That's what I thought, but he appeared to be a bit bitter about it.

He's good at what he does, certainly knowledgeable, and carries a lot of weight online as an "influencer" (pukes on self) but I don't think he has any real strategy to monetise (dry wretches onto self) it.

  • You can buy tickets to watch the Wiggins attempt now despite it saying you can't until 17th April.

  • ^ Hmmm,
    'from £29',
but clicking through gives (me) only the options of 4 Gangways in the upper tier at £49.

  • At £50 a pop, no thanks Bradley.

  • He used to work for some company owned by QBP judging from an early TWIB.

New fiancee, planning for a future, needs reliable 9-5 job?

He could probably do well via Patreon, but it gets harder to argue fair use on other people's footage when you're using it to drive revenue.

  • LOOL

“There has been a resurgence [in the hour record]. People like Rapha are wetting themselves over it because they can do a T-shirt,” Wiggins said two weeks ago in a small chat with 10 journalists.

“It’s great because it’s another celebration of this incredible record that lay dormant for 20 years because Chris Boardman ruined it for everyone with his stupid bike.

  • I'd guess wiggins is going to attempt the hour on a team gb track bike. Which is sort of a stupid chris boardman bike. The (sort of) symmetry rather appeals to me.

  • 50/hr a bit steep

    11/hr more like it

  • He just comes across as faux-pissed off with everything, along with being a bit smug about his own comments. I used to like it before he just started constantly whinging.

  • ^Haha, I always thought it was "dull as dishwater". You learn something pointless everyday!

    It's both/either.

  • Evening Standard goes with "close enough" bearded Sky rider pic

  • That's ridiculous, there are perfectly good pix of Wiggo out there wearing his world champion stripes, making identification easy

  • The Standard were also of the considered opinion the other day that only frog cyclists jumped red lights--makes sense:

    http://www.standard.co.uk/news/world/french-cycle-race-competitors-ignore-level-crossing-barriers-and-narrowly-miss-being-hit-by-train-10172247.html

The URL is correct, but not the headline.

  • That is Wiggo, what are you talking about. He just mixed up his top before the race..

  • "What do you mean 'budget set-backs'?!"
