Probably rubbish for food, but for a laugh, go to my mate Heilco's tiki bar:

best bet is to head into Camberwell. I've eaten in both the bear and tiger and they're half decent, be warned the bear is a gastropub.

Thank you everyone. That tiki bar has intrigued me for years. I can;t believe it's still open.
Look at this menu!
That's the entire menu right there.

nowhere close to being 5/10mins away, not on foot anyway.

@WjPrince yeah sorry but I discounted that one from my search.
Looks like Camberwell's our best bet, but the northsiders will grumble because they want to be closer to the Northern line tube stations.

I've never been, and no idea about food, so not exactly a recommendation, but The Kennington on camberwell new rd always has overspill 5-a-siders of an evening.
Also, I've tried to go to the tiki bar three times, in normal bar kind of hours, and each time it was shut.

Just been past the Kennington now. I know the one you mean. Did it used to be the black sheep or something?

The Black Dog off Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens is okay.
The Royal Oak off Kennington Lane is a proper pub, not bad. Doubt it does food, though.

Never seen it open, although it may well be.

Yeah that sounds right. The Bear is probably nicer though.

They're closing the Gun!

London is fucked... It'll be an All Bar One when it reopens... Or Pizza Express will move down the street...

Non-shit pubs near Wembley arena/Wembley Park tube?
-
• #441
Good luck trying to find one. Always do Green Man pub before England games because it's vaguely 'cheap' at £3.50 for generic lager.
Anyone know of any pubs south of the river with a really good beer garden?

Any particular part of south of the river?

Anywhere but Clapham

Cutty Sark in Greenwich has the best beer garden in London IMHO.

Cheers for those. Anyone been to Peoples Park Tavern by Victoria Park? Its east but probably easier for a few of my friends (birthday thing)
-

I was there the other weekend. It seemed much nicer and busier than when it was the Britannia. They have their own brewery now turning out some lovely stuff.

Oh and I discovered you can legally ride on the pavement on Vicky park road now.

Friend is asking...
"know of any decent large-medium beer gardens that are central or near a main station? Say Kings Cross or Waterloo?"
Thanks

define decent, or not...
the QE Hall has a nice rooftop bar/cafe
Anyone recommend me a pub within about 5/10 mins of here? That's Bethwin Road in Kennington. It's our new 5-a-side location and we're looking for somewhere that does decent, cheap food mainly. Nobody's too arsed about ale selection.
