Yeh, my son I'd give it as a gift or if I needed the money I'd sell it but not to my son - it would be off the table and on the market. Have a word.

What odds does it make?

I wouldn't expect my Dad to give me £2k so why would I expect him to give me the watch?

And surely better to see someone you know enjoy something than to sell it someone you don't know?

Was more asking whether it was a good price to be fair
