Thanks for the id check saarf. I wasn't aware exactly what it was, I bought the frame ready sprayed so any clues to its model already gone. Really liking the black and chrome combo too which is why I chose 7900. Put ultegra grey on first but it looked a bit 'odd' and busy. Now I have an ultegra group set and a kidney to sell!

paint looks like a decent finish, enjoy !

I'll take the kidney. (must be worth at least 2 Ultegra sets).
Nice build. I thought Shimano would look bad on a classic like this but the DA really looks good on it.

Kidney now sold. Thanks WimVDD. Thanks for the nice comments too.

seems legit, late 70's early 80's super, with a crimp inside the stay, may have been resprayed as the conic pattern did not emerge until circa '87 , cannot say if fair price as you have not stated

£350 with offers accepted

I think the price is fair. I bought a re-sprayed Super that was pretty mint for £340 and also a very tatty Super 91 for £160 but spent £170 having it sprayed and decals etc so cost around the same. I'm constantly scanning eBay/RetroBike/Gumtree and here of course for the next 'Bargain' but there appears to be very few real bargains around. If I wanted it yes I would buy it for £350 but if it's a compromise in colour or size then I'd hold out until the right one came along.

Went to a local thrift store today to bring in some old furniture and just for the sake of curiosity, went see the bikes. Damned, they have a Colnago Super (Saronni-red) in there! Frame in very good state, exactly my size (56), Cinelli stem and bars but (and that's what kept me -so far- from buying it) comes without the original fork and with a mixture of nineties Shimano 105 and 600 tricolor. Price was non-negotionable and put to 400 euro. What do you guys think?
-

Nope, I wouldn't buy it for that money. The shimano is worth next to nothing so you would be paying E400,- for a Super frameset.

Had the same thoughts about it after a couple of hours.
Thanks for the advice!

Hi Colnago Hive mind, what is the difference between a Dream and Dream Reflex, many thanks.
-
• #693
not sure who hive mind is, but i have a lux dream roadie and cx in columbus aeroplane,
some dreams were made from altec, looking online dream reflex seem from 2003, here is a pista version
this roadie was listed here, stating altec tubes
Columbus ALTEC 2 COLNAGO DREAM REFLEX frame
comparing the two models, geo seems same on lux and reflex dreams, maybe it was an entry/mid range level model if the lux dream is aeroplane? -

My latest Colnago Master.
This one is a little bit later than my Master Olympic prob 94-95 it still has crimped tubing and 'Freuler' geometry although it has a number hanger but none art-deco paintwork so perhaps someone raced it at some point.

seen some c59's going fer decent readies recently, and a c60 frame that was fer cheap, prices are dropping and then they will level i tink
Right this is the last build I plan on doing this year (especially now I'm flat broke) and I plan to ride this everyday it doesn't rain. A super with dura 7900 and magic r-sys wheelset. Really gonna enjoy the classic frame with modern group. Not sure on whether to go with a 17deg stem yet but the ride position as is suits me well so may keep it looking a bit 'upwards' looking for comfort over aesthetics. Will post some better pictures later.
