  • Think it will look cleaner and be better in long run to have them both on the braze eyelet. Up to this point, took almost 2 hours, including me using the mtb bracket by mistake first time round. 2 worst jobs to so together, so fiddly, like a giant Lego technics.

  • Yea it's a pain in the hole alright, I couldn't get the rack straight with the road bracket so ended up using the Mtb one. Will go back and swap it when I have the energy!

  • That's awesome !

  • Love the seat stays on that Dave Llloyd

  • That's a lot of L's...

  • yep, lotto lllove for the lllloyd

  • Picked this up the other day:

Rubbish picture I know, will get some better ones soon hopefully. Belonged to old pro Olaf Ludwig. This will probably only be used on the track and closed circuits/roads.

Stem is totally stuck in there, so I'm gonna let it sit upside down over night with the headtube full of penetrating oil and see if it'll come loose tomorrow.

Parts I have so far that will go on there: Suntour Superb Pro x TB14 wheelset, Sugino 75 cranks and bb, Flite saddle, some nice compacts I'm picking up tonight.

No idea for seatpost and stem yet. I'm guessing silver parts would look best? Maybe some Nitto? Open to suggestions. I also think white contact points would look good on this (see picture below), though I'm not sure I will be able to find a nice white saddle.

Also still debating if I'm going for gum walls for the tires. They look mighty nice on this build:

Note: The build above isn't my bike/frame. Just a picture as a frame of reference.

  • I was watching that on eBay a couple of years back but couldn't afford, did you get good price? Now the fixie bubble has burst...

  • All nitto seatpost, stem, bars would be natural for these frames.

  • Needs dura ace Easton post

  • ^yep ! and a longer stem and kashimax...

  • The fixed bubble has burst? Didn't knew. Any citation for this?

fingers crossed, I hate being stuck in a bubble

  • sooo niceee!!!!!

  • Thanks guys, I'm really happy with it. Gonna try my hardest to build it up with the parts it deserves. Will probably take a little longer than a weekend, but I'm a patient man.

@TM: Bought the whole lot you see in the picture off Marktplaats for around £370 (I paid €500), which also includes a Miche Primato wheelset and crankset.

  • I pulled out the tout mavic for my exposure...
    DSC06007

  • Wow, bargain!

If I may I would like to register my interest should you sell in future.

  • Pretty sure it is, looking at it: 753 / wishbone stays / fillet brazing / logos in all the right places.
They're the first compact geometry road frames ever built, apparently.

  • great bike. olaf ludwig wa my cycling hero when i was a kid in a cycling club back in the gdr

  • This totally deserve its post in the French Bike Porn. And the colors are matching perfectly Gaston

  • I guess it is then, the measurements I have kind of back up your theory.

"It measures approx 53cm centre to centre seat tube (59cm centre to top) and approx 56cm centre to centre top tube."

  • Turned a 1987 52cm Aquilon 2x5 speeds mixte into a singlespeed.

Couple of hours of work for a pretty sweet result!
