I googled "boil nitromors" and all I could find was some guy talking about Nitromors "boiling his spuds" with how shit it is now. Was I meant to find something else?
-
• #100628
Damn - boiling the new formula nitromors gives it strenghth like the old formula - but find guidelines before you cook that shit, thought it would pop up on google.

for a moment there I thought 'google boil' was the verb.

The active ingredient in OG Nitromors was Dichloromethane: stick that in an eBay search.

Hah yeah I wanted one when I was a kid, too.
I would ask, for both lefty and HeadShok;
Do the forks hold air or do they leak over time?
Do they cycle smothely and without grittyness?
Is there any 'gurgling' noises when cycling the fork?
Does the lock-out work?
Does the rebound nob turn (lefty only) ?It's worth knowing that TF tuned are the only recognised service centre for 'dale forks, and they won't touch anything from around 2008 or older, which probably includes those forks.
Personally I think it looks fucked, and £440 is a bit of money for a fucked bike.
It's described as 'used' which is ebay speak for it should work. If the seller had half a brain they'd have described it as spares or repair.

Yeah, that's what I thought about TF.
Pretty much exactly the follow up questions I asked actually; from what I can surmise about the lefty it holds air fine, has full range of compression and rebound, and the lockout and rebound knob both function. The fatty compresses fully but doesn't rebound all the way, and the plastic lockout lever has a crack in it.
On the basis the lefty sounds at least serviceable and I can probably make £100 back selling surplus bits, I've gone for it. As you say, it's described as used, not spares or repair, and the return policy is sound. Worst case scenario, if something's completely fucked, I lose out on postage.

How much travel does the Headshok have? If it's 80mm I'll have the damper. DIBS etc.

Still continuing the hunt on the local listing for a new project, this just got picked up by some lucky bastard (not me) for 100 Euro.

Oh ffs. Putting the road bike together but ran into this little problem. The angle of the cable is too narrow with the 'new' ultegra front derailleur arm so it won't pull it when it's on the small ring.... The hell do i solve this
Edit. Got it too work somewhat. Had to adjust the screws a little. Hope the chain won't rub..

The hell do i solve this
This cable route is shown in the instructions, along with a fabulously complex method of tweaking the leverage ratio of the FD to suit the cable line. Have you downloaded, read and digested the FD Dealer Manual PDF ?

Depending on the angle you can adjust the pull angle of the cable.

My other bike with 5800 is routed wrong as well then. Should start reading manuals..

I'm pretty sure Chloroform is main ingredient in Dicholoromethane
-
• #100643
Chloroform is trichloromethane, not the same thing.
-
• #100644
Indeed, and, damnit too late. Dichloromethane is a single molecule (CH2Cl2), consisting of one carbon atom, two hydrogen atoms, and two cholorine atoms replacing the hydrogen atoms which would be present in normal methane. It has no ingredients, unless you count individual atoms as ingredients, which would be a highly unusual use of the word.
-
• #100645
Given the way Chloroform is synthesised, it would probably be more accurate to say that dichloromethane is the main ingredient in chloroform :-)
CH2Cl2 + Cl2 → CHCl3 + HCl

We used to use chloroform at work to clean parts but it got banned partially because we kept knocking each other out with it for #lulz but mainly because a colleague managed to knock himself out one day and he smashed his head on a work bench.
Then we moved to benzene but that got banned last year because it's a liquid brain tissue dissolver.
Hasn't done me any harm though. BRB I'm going to go and stick some crayons up my nose #healthandsafety
