Dun Run ride home is lonely and quite dull, the only reason I didn't pack on mine was I was riding with someone else and didn't want to bail on them (they felt the same way, luckily we didn't communicate this during the ride home).
Pan flat (1000m climb in 300km qualifies as that) on fixed is more painful on the arse as you never have a reason to be out of the saddle. Still, it's easier than launching into something stupid as a first 300 on fixed.
