The only new race which has established itself and is popular with most fans is Strade Bianche, and that's mainly because it's a throwback to a bygone era. With the exception of the Tour of Qatar, and then only when the crosswinds hit it, the Middle Eastern races are dull and have next to no fans at the roadside.
The idea of creating new races, centred on cities doesn't exactly fill one with confidence for exciting racing. Look at the London Grand Prix or whatever it's called, I know Blythe won it last year but I'd struggle to name another winner and it happens on my doorstep.
I was going to make a point, but fuck knows what it was. Apart from the fact that change for change's sake is pointless.
