Maybe I'm old (fashioned) but, I don't need any rider's power meter reading or heart rate showing. Not even the bike cameras are that much of an improvement; nice for the recap/highlights show but it would be distracting from following the race. Better quality footage, tv-directors that know what they're doing, perfect rider position info and good commentators would already make the viewing experience much better.
And Oleg might claim Belgium France Spain Italy are stuck in the previous century but I don't care much for the races in countries whose inhabitants give f-all about cycling and just cough up loads of money to have a peloton ride around their desert or smog filled metropolis.
All those 'small races with no TV coverage' are the grass roots and bring genuine wonder to spectators as they come through. It is different to other sports and it's almost impossible to rebuild this culture if you let it die (look at uk domestic racing).
