  • The above stream doesn't seem to work. Anyone?

  • Or updates, or anything... I'm on my phone and basically relying on this thread.

Fifteen minutes left, @GustavLarsson is speeding up, but it might be a bit too late for the UCI Hour Record

  • "Larsson has cycled 25 miles in a shade over 47 minutes"

Not many people have done that without going down a Welsh mountain.

  • Five minutes left, 50.024 km/h average. he's just gone through the Swedish record @GustavLarsson

Fastest ‘25’ of the season (on the road)
    1/6/14 Chester R.C. ‘25’ Andy Wilkinson 51min 58sec

  • A new national record for @GustavLarsson just over 50 kmh, official distance to follow

Need to get off to the track myself now.

No Jason Kenny tonight as his TUE is in the post.

  • Fastest ‘25’ of the season (on the road)
    1/6/14 Chester R.C. ‘25’ Andy Wilkinson 51min 58sec

Seems unlikely, Kevin Tye did 49:59 in a Charlotteville event I rode, and I'd be shocked if the H25/8 yielded the fastest 25 of 2014

  • Bottrill 45:43 in the PTW 25 07/09/14

  • Another Listener's Hour, basically testing arm on TT bike to see if next weekend's 300k is actually doable. Faster than the last one at Hillingdon on a slower setup. #listenershour

  • Good one man! Took me a lot longer than that to get back on the bike after I bust my collar bone. Chapeau.

  • I could move it straight after the crash so it certainly wasn't as bad as previous efforts! Bruising is slow fucking off though..

  • I tried my own hour record at the UCI Velodrome on Saturday. There were only three other people on track, so I got a clear run at it. 36.96km from a standing start, without tri bars. Hoped to get rather closer to 40km, I must admit.

  • Well done for giving it a go, even if you are disappointed with the distance. Was it as hard as you envisaged?

I'm sure if you want to improve it @xavierdisley would be more than happy to help for a fee.

  • Your head position probably stole you 1km if you had to keep an eye up for the other riders most of the time.

  • What gear were you on?

    Don't say EPO #protip

  • 50*16. My normal track gear. Thinking of going up to 50*15 though as it's a bit too spinny for the very fastest pacelines at the UCI.

  • No, it wasn't a serious effort or anything. I just decided, when we turned up and there were only two other people using the track, that I'd give it a try. If it had been a serious effort I probably wouldn't have ordered the second bottle of wine with dinner the night before...

  • About half of the time @Cycliste and I were the only people on track, and @Cycliste was behind me trailing around after me. But there were plenty of other things which would have slowed me down as well - no tri bars, insufficient warm-up, hangover, no skinsuit, normal helmet. And being old, fat and slow, of course.

  • I'm quite sure a maximum of only 3 people of this forum has ridden the >36.96 in an hour (return leg, no drafting, fixed gear) within the last year.

  • I should probably try this hour thing. Am I allowed to use a dual carriageway?

  • Count me as one of them, 25 miles (40.2km) in 59:25 last year with <1.5 miles between start and finish points. DannyAlf and @umop3pisdn both went quite a bit quicker on fixed, so there's 3 to start with, and @pnut went a lot faster than any of us. @Fixedwheelnut did 36.902 km/h for 25 miles, so there's a good chance he could pick a 1 hour segment where he did >37km. @xavierdisley was sub 2h for a 50 on fixed, so he must have easily done a 1h segment of over 40km

  • there's a good chance

    Doesn't fit the bill.

  • 24 second laps for an hour is good going on 84" Well done.
