Should it be 'technical knowledge of your staff', not 'technician knowledge of your technician staff'?
-
• #7530
Probably, but you don't necessarily have to have much tech knowledge to work on the shop floor...

Looks good, Puiyin, send it...

Thanks TS, will read again tonight to correct any typo and try shorten it a bit..

The only slight issue is that all those issues could easily, and would most likely occur with any other brand or flavour of laptop.
It shouldn't be happening with a Mac and they really should have just replaced the thing. Saving everyone time. I've generally had good experiences with Apple staff and they've been fair with replacements etc.
The whole genius bar thing is total wank though. I've had better luck with apple approved independents.
On a side note, Screw you apple! Tried my old Airport express (that still works) last night - just to pipe some tunes to another room. Nope. Yosemite wont work with the old hardware. And I can't get an older Airport utility to run. More perfectly good electronics consigned to landfill.

I could be interested in this depending on the spec.

Software update? Same thing happened to my Apple TV...
-
• #7536
have you tried extracting the old airport utility thing from the install container? I had same issue and got it working in the end. But admittedly that was mavericks. Can still play music through it now on all the Yosemite devices in the house though.
e: just tried it. yeah it's fucked.

Yah. Fooked. Ran a script last night so I could launch the older utility but no go. It's probably a blessing as then I'd have use iTunes. Back to Aux cable in phone.

• #7538
Yeah ok, 'technical knowledge of your technician staff' then....just didn't scan right when I read, 'technician knowledge of your technician staff'. Looks good though, hope you get a quick and positive response.

Keep us updated. I REALLY want them to sort this for you.

Sorry didn't spot the spelling mistakes, I must admit I wrote that quickly and with a fairly bit of anger...

Give it a Google, someone has made an old version airport utility able to run under newer OS X. Got a first gen airport express here, works fine with Yosemite

Ok. I'm going to need a laptop. I can't be turning away any more work just because I want to travel.
I don't need something for my photography/video editing, I can still do that at home.
Just something for web dev, and staying on top of things.£550 for a 2014 13" air sound good? is 4gb going to completely disappoint me?
I realise can probably spend a bit less, but not sure how old is 'too old'.
I don't care for Retina yet, and it needs to be easy to carry. -

@TRA is it the setup thats the problem?
If you're able to, simply create a bootable USB volume (drive or even memory stick will do) containing Snow Leopard and Airport Utility 5.6. Boot into the Snow Leopard USB (restart and hold down option key), launch Airport Utility 5.6, and configure the Express. When you've done configuring, simply specify the original volume containing Yosemite as the startup disk (under System Preferences), restart, and boot back into the Yosemite volume. I did it this evening and it works fine.

Otherwise airfoil could be worth a try.
@ExTra good luck with the email, I would have lost my shit and smashed something a long time ago

Anyone have an older MacBook with FireWire in Brighton today? Bit of an emergency with some footage that I need to get copied over from a REDmag Station.
