In Van Baarle's defence, Kwiato does shit all to close either, then gestures to him to pull, Van Baarle tells him where to go, and in those 3/4 seconds, Wallays is already well gone and then neither of them is going to work to pull it back and get outsprinted by 1 or 2 others.

The overhead shot shows that Kwiatkowski does at least accelerate before gesturing.

But it was so textbook by Wallays that one of them should have been on him like a shot.

Added: Van Baarle clearly hasn't read the textbook though, as he said he wasn't expecting Wallays attack.

What I like is the joy on Wallays face when he sees Theuns finish in second.
The both of them have proper "ha hahahahahahahah get in! " faces.
