I like the 810. Mine had a few wobbles a while back when it started freezing mid-ride for no apparent reason, but it's started behaving itself again. It took a while to get used to the new user-interface, having got used to an 800, but on balance I think it's better than the 800.
The 1000 is lovely. I've just started using it, and it's surprising how useful the slightly larger screen is. It's also noticeably faster than the 810 and the higher resolution makes maps easier to see. However, if you're not using the navigation side then it's difficult to justify the extra cash for a 1000 over an 810 IMO.

Right my 705 has finally given up - what's the deal with more recent Garmins? Are they all just as shit as each other? Will an 800/810 do?
I'm using my girlfriends 810 at the moment and I'm finding it incredibly irritating. Will this pass?
