Analog film photography and cameras

Suggestions for a rangefinder under £300? I realise I'm not going to get anything super nice. Going to Hong Kong next week so I'm going to buy something to use while I'm out there.

The medium format GW690/670 is a great camera, really sharp.

Nice camera but I was thinking of something more compact.

Konica Hexar AF black will be for sale at the end of the month. Gonna shoot a few more rolls then I will be passing it on for around £320? Comes with leather case and sleeve thing, flash (battery slot cover needs holding together with tape) with leather case and box. Very good condition, everything works as it should. If anyone wants to come have a look PM with details and you can come round for some herbal tea etc.

Now I need help finding a replacement, Mamiya 645 vs. Fuji 6x9. I can't spend more than what the hexar goes for so any help finding one cheap will be much appreciated :-)

I'm a big fan of the 645, and you can definately find one in good condition for less than 300.
More suitable though for slower things I guess, and shooting upright format with these is not cool.

Has anyone ever developed an old (over 50 years old) film with any success. I have an old Brownie from my grandparents and I've only recently discovered an ancient Kodak Verichrome 127 film (exposed) sitting inside, long shot but there may be some unseen pics of my family on there. There are plenty of places offering to give the developing a go, I just wondered if anyone has actually had any luck/knowledge with this type of thing?

Mainly architectural stuff, but will be doing lots of studio stuff next term so I don't mind a slower camera. I shoot a lot a night with a 35mm slr too so I just want more quality really.
I just found with the hexar that its too slow and I had a hard time relying on the autofocus, always second guessing. I mainly shoot portrait though, hardly ever landscape.. :-S

Hmm, you'll have to see what's your best option in that price range for what you're going to need it for.

Fuji also made some nice 6x45 rangefingers, the GS645 series..

Or, if square format is an option - maybe a Rolleiflex?

these are tri-x at 1600 ISO (and overexposed massively when it was bright out) developed in dektol for 1 min, tbh i hoped it would make even rougher negs but tri-x is invincible

Tri-x is the best, I've had it to 3200 and 6400 before but I developed it the opposite way to you. 90 minutes in Adonal 1/100

These were both shot at 6400, when I took the umbrella pic it was just after sunset and really fucking dark.

..ha, bad timing - I just sold mine on eBay.

You can get those cheap (mine sold for about £30, without the flash, in "good" condition, which is normal).
The lens is not awesome, but very good. It's 2.8, which is pretty cool.
The fact that you can manual focus, set aperture manually, and set ISO manually is very nice.
Rangefinder spot is a bit dim (you can pretty much forget using it at night), but for the most part I was just estimating distances, looking at the scale, and close down a bit.

The coolest thing about it is that I always liked the thing. It's small, and just a neat little camera, very well thought out.

Some advice please! What are people's thoughts on a Yashica T4 vs. Pentax ESPIO Mini? Does anyone own both? I'm looking to pick one of these up, but am having a hard time picking between the two. I've found a Yashica for £150, but I've also found a Pentax for £45, so apart from the price, what are the pros and cons?

No. I have similar issues.

Fuck a t4. T3 has the same lens and is £100 less usually. I have one I have used and loved for years.

Might be worth looking into getting the shutter release button cleaned, it's a common problem with a simple solution, there are good videos on YouTube. I had mine cleaned for about £70 but it's still a bit funny so I suspect it might be something else. Still love the camera although I've missed a few shots because of the problem. I think I've decided the Leica minilux is my fave point and shoot camera due to it's fill in flash and manual focus control. Hexar for when I have time and for travel because it's so solid.
