  • They don't. I mean maybe some time-pressured mechanics do this as a rule because it streamlines the process but it's not the case that it's always necessary.

  • Personally I prefer the old 'zip tie the new rim to the old one then transfer the spokes one by one' trick.

    But only on ma own hoops.
