Just put your lips together and blow.

Or, get an inner tube with a longer stem.

Longer stem was my initial reaction, but it came from the shop like that and the tube had been inflated, so there must be some tool or adapter...

Valve Extensions. Will cost you ~£5
Decent article here:

Thanks for the link. Very useful.
Should the wheels have come with valve extenders, or are they usually sold separately?

Both :-)
Yes, wheel manufacturers should supply relevant accessories (particularly Mavic with their wheel&tyre packages), and yes, you do usually end up having to buy them yourself.

TL;DR - get the removable extensions like the ones made by Topeak
Or just get the Topeak one - you only really need one.

Older Specialized trispoke tubular wheel-set, Shimano hub, 1 tub punctured.
Worth £300 or more?

Maybe a bit more, if they're straight and free running. Probably easier to shift tubulars on the timetriallingforum than here. I'd want £200 for the front and £200 for the rear if its a cassette hub, £150 if it takes a screw-on freewheel

I found a train webpage that let me book tickets from London to Glasgow more than 12/13 weeks before the date (not the sleeper ones). There was a little warning saying times may change, but it let you book nonetheless. I can't work out what this site was now? I thought it was Virgin, but no go.
Anyone know?

Home audio query. I want to neaten up how I play music in the home. I have an idea of what I want but not sure if it's possible. I want something I can physically plug my TV into that will then physically connect to my speakers. I then want this thing to receive audio wirelessly from my windows laptop, mrs_com's macbook, two android phones, an iPhone and maybe anything else that guests happen to have so they can stick stuff on. I have a Chromecast dongle which works great for sending YouTube and Netflix etc.

Actually, I think Chromecast might be the answer, just not using it correctly. It would be good to know if there are other options. It would be handy not to have to turn the TV on to play music

I need a new 1 1/8" carbon steerer bung thing for a road fork. Tried a Hope Head Doctor but the internal diameter of the fork is too small for that to ever fit and, despite what Hope say, I'm not whacking it in with a hammer.
Does anyone have any recommendation or are they all much of a muchness?

Cheap solution; basic portable Bluetooth speaker with a lineout on it.
Fancy solution; modern high end av receiver with Bluetooth, airplay and such.
-
• #67042
@stevo_com search "bluetooth receiver" in ebay/amazon/whatever and you can get a little thing that will fit a headphone jack. £1 usb bluetooth dongle pc end too if needed.

A few suggestions at the end of this thread https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/260435/?offset=50
If you are looking at a bluetooth receiver I'd get a branded one. The cheapo ones I've used have had noticeably worse sound quality.
-
• #67044
The bluetooth road is quite a hit and miss - been thru 3 systems until my phone and system had a reasonable trade off between sound quality and reach, so having several different devices connecting can easily be prone to headache (but can turn out beautiful as well).

I think I will try the chromecast route first as it will cover most of what I want to do (YouTube, iPlayer, Spotify). I'll run the speakers off the same extension lead as the TV so everything will be on with one switch. Then I just have to set the input on the TV and crack on.
Cheers though.

For android there are various chromecast plugins for your phone not sure about apple.
Additionally it is possible to cast a windows laptop to the chromecast either via chrome or experimentally full screen.

Aye, we've had the chrome browser on the macbook working fine. I have just downloaded spoticast on my nexus 5 to use Spotify.
I will report back.

Airplay isn't smooth enough to use for the audio of a TV, it won't sync properly with the video.

?
Are you sure it's not your network connection? How far away from your router is the Apple TV?
I have two at home and both sync audio perfectly for Netflix, Amazon Prime and Sky Go when required (as well as YouTube obvs).
How am I supposed to inflate this?
