• Aha! Can someone make the confirmation whether it's a most mileage in a year or further than the previous record within a year?

  • as people are saying, by default the moment you pass the previous record logically you are the new holder and beat your own record each day as the rolling year rolls on... until you stop.

unless there is some small print with regards to the day you announced that you were starting or something like that.

Definition of year: Attempt may start on any day of the year and will run for 365 consecutive days.

  • but does the start have to be offically declared?

  • They do the math after the 365th day - but if the 357th day rider at that moment has ridden longer they might not issue the crowning to the 365 day rider at that 365th day moment.

    Guessing away I am, wuhuuuu

come away and guess with me

  • They're an addendum to these:
    http://ultracycling.com/sections/records/docs/UMCA_records_packet_2015.pdf

which have a proposed start date field in the entry but there's no mention of whether or not it's a rolling 365 days other than their definition of a year comment. It sounds like it could roll on forever, in theory.

  • I thought I read somewhere that the start date had to be declared.

  • but does the start have to be offically declared?

    That's the question.

If not, then the 365 days could be deemed to start before the rider actually started, so they just covered no miles in the first days.

  • The start date is declared on the entry form. But, do they hold you to that? That's not clear in the rules.
