What time is it? Watches and horology

I was wondering whether there was a titanium bracelet that was designed for the Seiko.

Wouldn't that cost more than the watch did?

Given how inexpensive the watch was, probably. However that's not a reason not to do it, if such a bracelet exists.

You'll be able to find something that fits the width but I doubt you'll find one with the curved end links that hug the case.

It will probably look a bit strange, though, a titanium bracelet with a stainless steel case. Different colours.

The case has a Ti finish, I'd not want a bracelet that didn't match.

Happy to use an SS bracelet if it matches.

Like @rardar says you might have a hard time finding something that matches your lugs... There must be something around tho', try the Seiko forums...

Yobokies does an oyster strap for Seiko lugs I think. Not sure what else he has but big on the Seiko stuff.

Yes, I'm hoping he'll chime in. I have read what he posted before with interest.

Everyone seems to have a Rolex - you'd think they get issued at the door with the bottle of water and Americano for some of the meetings I go to these days - so the GS wins some points simply for being "other".

Do you like them though? Or are you just trying to spend a load of money on something other than a Rolex?

When I buy something vintage which I'm not 100% familiar with, I get myself a range of photos of known-good examples, and then compare to what I'm considering buying. What you can't do is guarantee the quality of the servicing work, but generally you'll more often than not be fine.

I'm very much at the research stage at the moment, I simply don't know enough about these things to do anything other than, as you put it, spend a load of money.

Also, I don't have a load of money to spend on (potentially) a watch right now.

However, I've got a minor celebration in August this year, by which time I could have put aside some cash.

Then just buy the Rolex Explorer? Its a known quantity and you like it. People don't really care what man-bracelet you wear

If you like that GMT a I'd consider the SBGE001. You'd have Spring Drive, which is an interest in itself, gives the cool truly sweeping second hand and is something else to further justify the choice, rather than 'because everyone else already has a Rolex'.

Just been looking at Subs again, found a really nice Tudor 7928 for £2,980 and a mint 1995 Rolex Sub for £3,210... Daft... Just window shopping anyway...
