Was the speed reading from their 'device' used as evidence or was it just his own testimony that he was going over 20mph?
I thought that there weren't any hand held speed traps that can officially be used on bicycles.

Waiting for the story of someone who gets a ticket and challenges whether the law actually applies to cyclists (see threads passim[1]).
-
• #229
And if it did, whether the police have any devices rated for measuring the speed of cyclists
[Edit] Oh - what @salmonchild wrote

"Cycling is his hobby and he understands how dangerous it was"

Police have no authority to fine.
The can give you court order.
Court will fine you.
-
• #232
What about FPN's? Aren't they a fine issued by cops?
Yeah, they do more than just parking:

An FPN is something you can accept instead of going to court - it's only a fine if you don't pay it, and then have a fine imposed by the court, following a successful conviction.
-
• #234
You accept and pay. So it's a fine.
Same as the BBC licence fee is just another 'tax'.

Now I understand why Richmond park people are see it and branded as tossers.
I would have said WANKERs, but the tread title…

The obvious solution, which will come soon, is that there's a further amendment to the Royal Parks Act to make it clear that the 20mph speed limit does apply to bicycles.
I never get clocked for speed coming down Sawyer's Hill because I do anti-clockwise laps. The Police rarely hang out at the bottom of Broomfield Hill as the twisty road makes it a less safe place to stop people than the gentle run off after Sawyer's.
-
• #238
This; in spades. Anti-clock is also deer friendly.
Clock is fun though ..

• #239
41mph is a fair effort. Well worth the fine for the kudos he'll get at his roadie club.
Any stats out there for bieks causing collisions in the park(s)?
-
• #240
Poo, I like clockwise laps more. Are cars getting fined as well?
-
• #241
It is a fair effort, but as for the kudos he was kicked out of Dulwich Paragon for "breaking the rules of conduct"
-
• #242
Someone find the man, congratulate him and invite him to join LFGSS.cc. Who would want to be a member of a club that kicked you out for doing that anyway?
-
• #243
Was running yesterday morning (#CSB etc), and there was a massive herd of deer dashing across the path / Road.
Provided a good hold up. Was worried they might be in mating mode but they didn't seem too bothered by the people / cars -
• #244
Isn't it the notorious London Dynamo?
They're one big hypocrite.
-
• #245
those fucking blackfly (blandford bombers) that bite me in Richmond Park. I react really badly and get suffer from oedema which leaves a huge bruise for weeks afterward
TOSSERS
-
• #246
The same ones that you sometimes get at Herne Hill?
-
• #247
Not sure about HH. Little black things 2-3mm long that bite and can cause a huge swelling.
-
• #249
WTF.
I mean... who needs gels to do laps of Richmond Park!? Just put it in the water bottles before you leave home.
Numpties.

From TFA
The warning comes after two major cycling events, the London Duathlon and Ride London, saw hundreds of gel packs left lying at the nature reserve.
Either way, there's no excuse.
Too fast too furious...
