    Schlüsselbein. :)

Did they catch that spectator? It almost looks as if he prepares to scarper at the end of the video.

  • Strade Bianche

    ftfy.

  • It's all about the view!

    (from here)

  • The crash in the women's race in Holland/Belgium is horrible. Looks 100% deliberate.

The Cavendish crash seems like it was just bad luck but he does seem a magnet for misfortune doesn't he?

Sam Bennett having a great season at Bora Argon. Wonder if they'll give him one of those steam extraction things that they make.

  • Thanks for introducing me to yet another website where I can waste hours looking at cycling.

  • You're welcome. It's a favourite. Odd but immersive.

  • I am so angry at that spectator crash, definitely looks deliberate, he reaches out quite far to grip her handle bars and then turns and runs off almost straight away! I hope they catch him, absolutely disgraceful.

  • I hope Astana aren't banned. They've a lot of very good, race animating riders. Who are stand up riders.
IT's a shame they've had some idiots on their team. And are run by one of the biggest idiots. But these just are just trying to make a living racing their bikes. And to lose their job because of other idiots would be a shame. The team needs reforming, not removing. You can't tarnish everyone with the same brush.

I for one am looking forward to Boom, Fulsang, Aru and clearly Nibali.

  • Ideally Astana's license will (eventually) be held by a new team... Minus Vino et al.

  • Would be insane if they did get did get removed, some riders find other teams, then Alonso swoops in and saves the day. I have no clue how it works but in my head there would be a few desperate riders looking for a contract.

  • 'And then he said, "Alonso swoops in.."'

  • . (doingitwrong)

  • Last Saturday's race had nothing to do with the bike brand ;-) (d'oh thnx @miro_o overlooked your comment) but I'm completely with you on the scenery praise! The Chianti region in Tuscany is superb, already looking forward to L'Eroica in October. The start number lottery was kind again this year, yay.

  • If Jeremy Clarkson did that, everybody would be saying: 'Oh, it's just a harmless bit of banter. It's why we love him.'

  • How do we know it wasn't Jeremy Clarkson that did it? He's had a bit of spare time recently.

  • Could be a mental health patient . I cannt think anyone in the right mind would do such a thing .

  • Its psychotic, utterly deranged thing to do. Fan of the other rider, spotted an opportunity?

  • Looks like an easy thing to pull off watching from behind the finish line. But I bet the reality was very different. Grabbing a inch thick handlebar as it passes you at 50+kph, twisting and releasing. All without losing a finger. Surely that takes concentration and being prepared. I just cant see it possibly being a brain fart leading to a split second action.

  • yeah but it has to be opportunistic to a point, there's no guarantee a rider will be close enough to the barriers to be able to do it.

  • Totally.

But I reckon you'd need to see her coming, and watch With the intention in mind, long enough to gauge her speed.

So a few seconds premeditation. Hardly planning Ahead. But that asshat thought about it before doing it, none the less.

  • I don't think he grabs and pulls - as Smallfurry says, that would be very difficult to do even if it was pre-empted - rather it looks as if her left hand shifter catches his forearm and it's that impact that brings her down. The slow-mo shows he has an open palm throughout the action, and he retracts his hand almost instantly too which would suggest and impact rather than an intentional grab. Even if he did have the accuracy, speed and strength to grab her bars and pull her toward him, I would have thought that would result in more of a prolonged hold than is shown, and she would have been dragged further into the barriers by him overcompensating the pull. Pure conjecture of course, and maybe it's just wishful thinking, but it doesn't look 100% intentional to me. Also a slow day at work, so I've probably spent far too much time thinking about it!

  • Ha. Why thank you @dimi3
