Actually I think the Edition version is a really bad decision; it looks blingy and a bit un-Apple
I'm sure there is a name for the sort of product that Apple make. It's like the anti-Veblen. A product that is the best in class, but affordable to the masses. The iPhone, for example...considered the best thing out there, and the same thing used by highschool students and the Hollywood A-list. The can of Coke you drink is the same as the President drinks etc.
They've now moved outside that.

Actually I think the Edition version is a really bad decision; it looks blingy and a bit un-Apple, they don't need the super-rich's business, and it gives them bad press, as '$10k watch' will be the headline and the thing casual observers will remember
