I've just injured myself and it seems tradition that every time I hurt myself I get a tattoo.
I have a good spot on the front of my left thigh in mind, just above the knee...
Am thinking I would possibly like some kind of lucky cat done in a fusion of Japanese style and geometric/dot work... Or maybe a hanya mask...
Is there such a style? Any tips on work to check out?

@dancing james @Dakin broken a bone in my foot, so annoyed, going to be on crutches for 6-8 weeks. Always seems to happen in march.

Cheers Joss, I'll be reet! Frustrating more than anything else, that it's always just as the good weather comes around @Dakin

How? Heal up fast. You have two feet anyway, so one is spare.

Luckily my major injury came in december so im almost back to normal..
Hope its a speedy recovery -

Dropped the motorbike on some gravel and got foot trapped beneath it... I'm seeing the silver lining, hopping around on my left leg for a few weeks will be great for weak knee.
Didn't realise you'd been hurt @dakin what happened?

Bad knees causing problems.
And then dislocated a couple of fingers in a scuffle. -

Excited, finally booked another date with my tattoo artist on 17/3. Just a small piece on the outter side of my left leg, above the ankle...
Then I am having a big piece done on my other leg with Noon in July...
Is tattooing addictive or what?

tell me about it. There's so many people I want to get tattoo'd by and I have so many ideas of what to get done, but no spare cash to actually do it.

..I think it was a bumper-sticker I saw years ago, that read "A mile to your first, an inch to your next".

Hahaha... sounds about right, wanted to get 1 done for years, always though my 1st was gonna be some tiny one with a couple letters or what not... then got 1st done, palm size, 2 months later, having another palm size done and some months after that, a large one that I don't know how large...

I'm hanging around that first mile and a bit apprehensive. What's the etiquette on wanting something done? I really want to let the artist do their thing later on down the line, but for the first one, I kinda want to replicate something that has personal meaning...but I don't know if that's considered rude?

I totally agree with having tattoos with personal meaning, how do you mean by rude? The meaning you want to portrait in the tattoo? Or asking an artist to tattoo exact what you want?
For the 3 tattoos I have and yet to have, they all have very personl meanings behind and I gave the artists very detailed briefs as to what I want but also gave them the freedom of making the designs according to their styles. I did my research in choosing the artists and I know I would be happy with their designs.
I guess I would make the designs myself if I was any good at drawings, but the true is I am not. I think there are artists who are happy to do exact what you show them but some are more incline in making changing, you just have to find the right one who is happy to work with you.

I actually have a lfgss / ebay / other channels sales - tattoo money tin. Money I make from selling 2nd hand things here or other places go straight into that tin. It helps. I am almost there with my tattoo with Noon... just need to working harder in selling stuff

Bam! Second part. Asking the artist to tattoo exactly what I want. I really appreciate the creative scope and the complex nature of their work, but this piece is pretty much a cut and paste, and that seems a bit...disrespectful to me, but there seems to be no other way.
Anyone you recommended (within London) that I could go talk to?
It's an intricate, colour piece about palm sized. -

The irony is that I spend ages figuring out what to get as a first proper tatttoo, and then suddenly got load of ideas within a month of acquiring it.

That is very nicely done.

I can't think anyone to recommend really, the only thing I could think of is apprentice as they might be willing to do it for the experience, I am not sure. Think you just have to go to a few reputable tattoo places and speak to them see if they could recommend anyone... sorry...
