1st run since 4th Feb (due to illness, holidays and a bit of apathy). Ugh. Slowest, hardest 10k I can remember (my slowest on this route by almost 4 minutes).
Strava gives me an Extreme suffer score of 232 for it. Maybe I'm still not recovered from my cold or from giving blood 6 days ago.
Will take the short (5k) route on Wednesday and be gentle on Thursday's run in (12k).

How does Strava calculate a suffer score?
Just entered a new event: The Welwyn half marathon on March 22nd. Hoping to use it for some Marathon Pace training. Trying to do marathon pace on your own at the end of a long run is pretty tough, although it was easier on Sunday after some decent mid long run water and 2xSIS gels (i think it worked enough as a combo for me to stick with it now).
Going to start my Cambridge taper after track tomorrow. Then it should give a reasonable idea of where I am in preparation for London.
@Sainsburys_Ed when do you want to do this half? I highly recommend Gosport as a PB race although it is quite a long way off.

OH I'm doing Llanelli as well. Personally my training has fallen off the wagon a bit in the last few weeks for various reasons so I'm not holding out for a PB.
I just checked the weather myself and it looks like light rain, hopefully it's not windy on top of that... -

Not looking so good weather wise now, they were giving cloudy with 6mph winds. They've changed it to rain and 16 mph winds now.
It's so exposed down there, that wind is going to be horrible.
New race plan is to find someone big and fast and slipstream them :D

Signed up for Windsor half yesterday, its not my ideal distance but the route looks really nice. Also hopefully doing the dam to dam 16k, also not my distance and its a week before windsor

Anyone want a spot on the Surrey Half Marathon on Sunday (8th March)?
I can't take part so if you can come grab my pack from Streatham this eve or tomorrow day it is yours. Rather not see it wasted.

Would any sane person willingly visit Gosport through choice?

Flat, fast half marathon. I didn't stick round long after the race.
It was an interesting place to see on the Saturday evening...
Good luck to all racers this weekend.

got into london last year but deferred as i knackered my knee. had great plans for a decent run this year and was running in december but had a mental january then got lumbered with an exam to do for work so have only just had time to do any training. i can't defer my entry another year so i'm forced to run it this year. it won't be pretty.
did 7m last fri and will do 7m tonight. and that leaves 7 weeks till the event.
wish me luck! -

I just dragged (almost literally) my carcass around Bristol town. No zip, no spring, no nothing.
14 miles done. In a lot of time.

I blame those bristol hills.

Parkrun, windy, 18.50, ok. Fell Running debut tomorrow in Marsden.

Parkrun, decided to just jog round until the moment they said "go!" so then spent half of the first lap in the bunch trying to pass.
20.44 which is 45 seconds slower than my target, but it was a nice run in the spring sunshine and I did set (inadvertently) a 1km PB of 3.51 at some point.
(Something to note, my Garmin watch, and those of the two people I was running "with" all think that this course is a little long, my 5k time was 20.34, ten seconds before the end of the lap).

Parkrun, legs felt heavy, wanted a sub 25, scraped in with a 26.47. Still, it got me out of the house.

I'd take the measured course over the Garmin result. Good time though. 20mins isn't far off.
3 1/2 weeks since my last run now - the inflammation in my glute appears to have gone (or, at least, I can't feel itany more) - I'll be trying for a few short runs next week, and some faster treadmill work in front if a mirror to iron out the upper body swing that is (one of) the apparent cause of the problem in my leg.
Good Luck!
I'm trying to find a half to have a crack at a PB, I'd really like to go sub 3 at brighton, and base on how easy Saturday felt its got to be a possibility, will see when I pace the sub 7 minute milers at Kingston Breakfast run in a couple of weeks!
