  • brakes of precision

...ok, but where are the HHSTTB point on getting a good working brakeset? :)

  • Im all about the subtle slavery, being loud with certain parts and a bit more subtly on others so it doesn't look like some back to the future 2 type of sled. Plus when im doind 100 wanna at least be able to try and stop without skiddin on tubs.. These look slave enough tho right??

  • they look mean! those frames are things of rare beauty

  • Thanks :-) Been trying to haggle with the seller for a bit now but if he wont accept my latest offer ill just have to bid on it and see.

Bar pads arrived, could be nice to have a touch of colour somewhere eh?

  • Slave enough!

  • @breso Worth €45 posted?

  • It's like £35, if NOS it sounds like a good deal!

  • Last page: "Bro Arms"

  • 'gusset'

what a filthy, apt word for a filthily alluring bicycle. Looks prawn.

  • errrmmm... how did i miss this on friday?!

  • Dont actually know how I forgot to show you this one. Had it in wrapped in bubble wrap next to the Zeus hehe

  • Re padded the 'Bro Arms' after a long session with some scissors. Carefully trying not to trim too much cork off. Will leave the bartape choice to the end as im really undecided to go a la Breso and do black on the outer and possible flouro or something on the extensions. (photos in the morning)

Also I done pulled the trigger on them brakes, waiting for invoice from the seller and should hopefully be here by next week. Steady progress I say..

  • Were those 3T Bio Arms were off Ebay? I's watching a pair of them maybe a week or so ago but forgot to bid.

... Glad to see they're going to a better project then what I was planning.

  • Yep, went pretty cheap too but Im not sure how comfortable they will fit as they have been chopped down quite a lot. If I sell you can have first refusal?

Pads don't seem to sit flush when using the sticky backed velcro, so once the positions been dialed in will have to glue them on properly.

  • Cheers mate.

Looking forward to how this turns out.

  • I spot a mech hanger, hate say it but this need gears :(

  • Meh.. Sorting out getting track ends with mech hanger atm so will have the possibility to run gears in the future. Either that or wait years for a track pursuit frame with a curvy seat tube, wishbone, flange/gussets/aero etc. and most importantly right size.

Plus it wasn't uncommon 'bitd' to get dropouts replaced to track ends with or without hangers. Plenty on here showing it can look good if done well. Les etc.

  • Yes swapping for track ends good idea - when I asked about it they said it would shorten stays as had to be cut - but mine were ultra foco welded not brazed. Best to check out first tho.

  • ^BITD I did it on a Moser.
With custom track ends you can accommodate any adjustments to seat/chainstay length in the geometry of the end - you can also raise effective BB height a wee bit too.
If you're wanting to avoid custom machining, you can braze a rear mech eye onto a bog-standard track end

  • By the by does anyone know how much does it costs to get them changed (dropouts to track ends)?

  • loving this. that little diversion in to the world of bar pads made me smile. baby steps to an epic build

  • Had a lengthy discussion with the framebuilder and the plan is to braze on a hanger too then fade some white/light blue/grey into the original pearly white or just mask off and paint over the bare metal. Maybe even respace to 120 but its 126 atm so prob not really worth the hassle I don't think. Stuck an old tubular wheel in the workshop today and has about 18+mm space between the curve and tyre edge in the original dropout.
Just need to make the drop outs slot on the chainstay deeper and have the track ends facing down (will be level anyway) ever so slightly to give more clearance at the wishbone when the wheel is deeper in the dropouts.

All im gonna say is it will be tight..

  • @hhc will pm you with details tomorrow night.

@jonny - Its all about the little details ey ;-) Im happy you like the progress so far. Now to look into headset options.. I do have a Zeus 2000 (titanium) headset in the spares box that could work for now but its kinda like a matt grey.. Might just have to go with it for now.

Any other opinions for something black and or light are welcome!
