  • damn it. i was too slow

  • Cool, you reckon I was on the right lines thinking of an enve 2.0 then?

  • If you want straight, carbon, normal brake drop, then you can't do better. As for the rake I'm not sure. Mine are 43mm.

  • Cheers. I have the feeling that 50 rake works better with the overall geo of smaller frames (given the caad10, my reference, goes to 43 rake in bigger sizes). Nevertheless enve make a variety of rakes including 50 so I guess its not a sticking point.

  • Lovely, thanks for sharing.

  • Nice. Thank you. I like matt, and black, although contrary to my expectations I'm starting to think about colour for this one.

Lettering placement is good, glad you suggested it.

  • I don't want discs on this - let's keep the debate for gravel/all-road/winter/touring/CX bikes.

  • How come you're basing the steel fork choice on a fork that won't fit a 28mm tyre (or 25mm + gaurds)?

Is it going to make much difference having a slighty higher/lower crown if you switch forks?

    Or have I missed something?

  • Disc isn't just for that, it's perfect for summer road riding too.

100+ miles is much more comfortable with hydraulic disc than mechanical rims caliper.

  • Has anyone suggested disc brakes yet?

  • I'm not sure, have you mentioned it yet?

  • Switching forks would work perfectly if the forks had identical measurements. If they're different measurements it could work but would change the characteristics of the bike.

I have a winter bike so dunno if you missed that? This is to be a road bike, and mudguards are not an essential part of the brief.

Edit: I am assuming a 700x28 will fit under an enve 2.0, but if you know otherwise please say!

  • [Image of person with head in hands]

  • That may well be the case, and thanks for (re) stating it.

  • Whilst I don't necessarily agree with Rich's choice of brakes, it's entirely his choice so leave it yeah!?

  • I don't really mind the debate, but it may not be the right place.

The first post of the thread has a picture of a rychtarski. I want one like that. The chat about discs and tapered steerers and so on is interesting and is definitely food for thought but the point has been made.

  • And the above said, I can't overstate how much I don't want hydro's on this. Much big brake hoods, very bleeding, so to hell with that, wow.

  • That is no debate but the totalitarian thinking of commuterism.

  • Rim brakes rule.

  • Brakes aside, any thoughts? If it was yours, is there something you'd do different (e.g tapered steerer, build it all from titanium, use an integrated seat post, etc)

  • I am assuming a 700x28 will fit under an enve 2.0, but if you know otherwise please say!

    Correct

  • I'll just say it again. Going from 1 1/8 steel -> 1 1/8 carbon -> tapered carbon was worlds appart. Stiffer and better, but not too harsh. But once again, you really need to know what you want from the bike, afterall it is a fully custom frame your getting.

  • Yes just buy this.
