  • Hi Ed, I'm replying here because I thought you would be a right person to ask. I might buy this equilibrium

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genesis-Equilibrium-Disc-Road-Reynolds-631-Frame-631-Fork-Mudguard-Eyes-/171501360714?

And then build it with my current Croix de fer Disc forks, which have lugs for lowriders. Will the headdtube be the right diameter?

The other question is this: the reason I want to swap my frame is for a shorter wheelbase, possible a small weight saving, and therefore better acceleration and more fun to ride when unloaded. Will I achieve any of this?

  • Although, for aesthetiscs, I might buy a disc trucker fork, or a straggler fork (if they come in black)

  • Straggler fork too long for equilibrium frame. Thorn disc fork is your best bet. Depending which year your cdf fork is, you could use that, it would relax the head angle a little, but nothing too excessive. Equilibrium has shorter a-c than cdf.

  • That Equilibrium frame was on for 335 last week, so maybe check in a week or so, obviously depending how many of your size are available.

  • You want this new bb to last more than 5 years! That's value for money!

  • I have a set of straggler forks in black to sell, pm and I can send pics etc.

  • Spotter your x2 is 10° or 17° please. Cheers.

  • not sure off hand, id guess a 17

  • Haven't posted this yet. Finished my build, and it's great. Put some road tyres on it today to see how it feels with slicker tyres rather than the Clement X'Plor. Feels good man.

  • Lookin good. My frameset arrives mid next week. All parts sat in the cupboard waiting to be fitted. Can't wait, very few days beat a new bike day.

  • I have finally collected the full Big Top set:

I was given the tool roll and these amazing custom panniers as a present. I also got my rack bag back from repair as it got a bit trashed in my festive 500 crash. It need a whole new front pocket and top flap.

    Panniers feature:

    • a back pocket, which is perfect for a d lock or similar
    • a smaller front pocket, which ive used for tools and snacks
    • d rings to strap on larger items
    • full floating liners, which are white so you can actually see whats in the bag
    • roll tops, to allow for different size loads.
    • simple attachment system, which can easily be repaired if accident happen.

Big thanks to @jtrent90 for his amazing skills, craftsmanship and customer service and my girlfriend for spoiling me rotten.

  • Looking good.

    Which frame pump is that?

  • Topeak Road Master Blaster

  • Whoaaa. Didn't know he made panniers as well. They look like they'll outlast the bike. How stable are they? So frikking happy with my rack bag, tempted to see what he can do with bike packing.

  • I can do framebags and other frame oriented bags (top tubes and that), but I don't touch the handlebar or seat systems as without a tonne of effort put in research wise - they're trash. I'll PM you.

Lovely to see them on the bike, I had chucked them on my tubus tara and they felt good.

  • Bike is looking good! Some sweet work with those panniers too @jtrent90!

  • Real nice.
Know how nice this will be to ride.

  • Awesome build, kept nipping back to this thread when I needed to convince myself I'd done the right thing ordering a Croix frame, and I have, so Cheers @spotter.

  • skillz @jtrent90!!! amazing ride Jack...

  • Have you cross checked? Or staying with Lht?

  • exploring options!
