Ye olde 1987 Specialized Rockhopper got a good thrashing today, every one else on full sus so I was working hard but it's just such a lovely thing.

Sweet. U-brake under the chain stay is a strong look.

What do people think of http://www.chargebikes.com/cooker/cooker-3 ?
-
• #6682
Spec is a bit basic.

That is certainly a positive way of looking at it! Constantly full of mud and clag but yeah it certainly looks clean.

At least it's not a roller-cam. Is that a biopace chain set?

That it is, it's my dads old bike, tange steel frame I believe. I dusted it down end of last year and have been riding / breaking bits / repairing and upgrading as I go. Love it.

Anyone know of a frame builder in SE London who could change a head tube from 1/8th to 44mm to take tapered forks? would it be worth the hassle/cost effective?
-
• #6687
You could give Matt at Talbot Frameworks a call and see what he says.

Not when there are still 1 1/8th canti and disc forks available
But where is the fun in that?
Edit durrr this aint the CX thread.

I looking to upgrade my forks, thinking about pikes but open to suggestions of good second hand with 150-160 travel.

What is the frame?
-

Hah thought this was the CX thread for some reason.
But my point kinda still half stands. There were / are Lyriks and long travel Fox forks in 1 1/8th. If money is no object Lefty doesn't care what your headtube is.
I suspect Alkali is wondering if you frame is even rated for something long travel.

Just for you.

I was, though posting from my phone is a pain.
Long stiff forks are gonna put loads of pressure on your head tube junction. Don't bother with the headtube exchange, in my opinion ;-)

Rad. What axle standard is that?
-
• #6695
What axle standard is that?
20mm × 110mm, like all proper forks

Junior T?
How much space is there between the stanchions?
-
• #6697
It's a 'Mr T' from 1997/98, with a whopping 100mm of travel!
You can see here that the tyre clearance is rather limited...

Nothing a new piece of machined plate won't fix (and some extended bumpstops)
-
• #6699
Its for going down stairs. No clearance required.

Its for going down stairs
I was wondering what it was for
It's ok, @dancing james is often seen in Swinley
