It's seems that finding a trustworthy mechanic is just as bad as finding a timber flooring installer. Does anyone else have any recommendations for the South London area? Brixton coop?

I've deleted my last comment out of fairness to a LBS which others seem to rate. But still think Le Bicycle is worth the trek. Workshop is always full of lovely bikes.

Brixton CC, Cadence or condor
-

I'll probably go with Cadence purely because they are rotor resellers

The bars have arrived! I was thinking that I might stop the tape at the grey full on the tops as the cables at inboard

chain catchers? should I buy one or they just a gimmick? if I should get one, which? Token, K-edge and of course Rotor all have versions but what is the difference?

I had a K-edge one with my old SRAM Red group because the downshifts were ridiculous. They work very well. You might not need one with Ultegra, but it's a small weight penalty to pay to guarantee you won't fuck up your BB area with a dropped chain

Thanks @TomvanHalen You are correct about smooth shifting with shimano chainrings. I have a 105 (5700) on my steel workhorse. It's done 3000 miles and has never fallen off.
However I'm going to install a rotor compact chainset on this bike and want it to be faultless on rides that are up to 200km (yes really) http://www.opencycling.com/coast-to-coast-in-a-day/

I had rotor ones, as much as they looked pretty and matched my rotor cranks and my rotor rings blah blah they didn't allow micro adjustment of the front derralieur alignment when I was indexing and trying to get my front shifts exact. If i was going to try one again I'd definitely go for something else like the K-Edge that looks to have better fitment.

Not at all - the micro adjustment available in Di2 is incredible - I spent a DAYS trying to get the front mech perfect on my canyon, never managed it, Tarmac; did it once and never had to look at it again! Both running exact same setup of rotor/dura ace 7900! Was the bane of my roadie life!

So I dropped the wheels off at cadence yesterday. They didn't exactly inspire confidence when they asked if the internal cabling access panel was crash damage repair...http://i53.tinypic.com/2nid4jn.jpg

Screw it, just get a crackyon.

Picked it up yet? Will be a fun ride down Annerley on it that's for sure. Look forward to seeing some pics.

@7VEN I just called. They haven't even started the build yet!
Yeah the descents will be fun, but I doubt that they will be any better than on my steel beater (it has comedy low 38cm drops)
I'm really looking forward to the climbs, where difference in weight will be incredible (i'm targeting 7kg)

Collected it tonight from cadence... Front derailleur is refusing to shift to the big ring, so back it goes!

Looks great. Looking forward to seeing some proper pics. Shame you have to take it back....
Thanks for the recommendation @7VEN I'll swing past there on my ride this weekend. Also really nice work with your Look KG121! I was so envious of your ergonova team bars, that i went and bought some too.
