I think I'm with you on the can't be bothered with the badges and paperwork side. My main reason for doing it would be the motivation and focus to keep me riding. I'm really enjoying it all at the moment and if this RRtY thing helps me to maintain it for the rest of the year that would be fantastic. Whatever works in that respect really. Being on the audax roll of honour isn't like getting Olympic gold but does have a quiet satisfaction to it like giving anonymously to charity.
