why does my browser always go to the penultimate page
It goes to the first post you haven't read yet. If you leave some threads for a few days, that could be five pages back from the newest post.

Hello,
I'm wanting to build some wheels to use my track bike on the road. I bought some Mavic M3CD 36H rims yesterday at a jumble.
Can someone recommend some good but affordable double-sided 36H hubs that won't look too tempting to thieves?
I could just get some posh ones but I want to be able to lock it up in the street.
Any help gratefully accepted. -

I'm looking to get some 50mm Chinese carbon rims and lace them to probably Mack track hubs but I'm unsure on spoke count. I understand that carbon = fewer spoke but how many? 20/16 and 24/20 both seem common with OTP, can the same apply for hand built? I'm just over 80kg and will get used on both road and track. Any advice?

carbon = fewer spoke
It's more a case that deep rims can work with fewer spokes, it's coincidental that deep rims tend to be crabon.

probably 24/20 depending on depth, if you're getting 88mm then probably 20/16, for everything else 24/20

Novatech/Quando etc. Double-fixed will be harder to find than fixed/free but ones with cartridge bearings should last well.

I blame Joytech.

I blame all the other companies called Novatech for nicking all the good domain names before Joy Industries launched their premium brand :--)

Any tips for truing old skool Shamal HPW-16 wheels? I've got an internal spoke key, and I'm planning on putting a shedload of penetrating fluid on the nipples before trying to turn them. Anything else?

Watch the square washers they will want to turn and out dents in your rim. Tricky things to work on had to rebuild one once and I vowed never again.

Just came across their website. What do you have done?

Son Dynamo to hed Belgium tim.
Build seems like it will last. -

Would be surprised if you need retension before the rim is gone. Your dynamo saga is over? How many spokes and Belgium Plus tubeless?

Yeah expensive rim but hopefully worth the extra cost.
32 spoke as 15mm thru axle only comes in 32 hole hub.
And not tubeless. I don't puncture often so don't want the bad rolling resistance of tubeless.

Had a slight side impact from a car on the rear wheel and it trued out. Forgot that you have disc brakes for a moment there as well.

the bad rolling resistance of tubeless.
Wait, what?

Thanks, will bear that in mind. Hopefully it's just a minor truing job. They seem pretty solid generally.

Any diagnosis advice on my rear wheel failure
mavic open sport rim 32 hole on tiagra hub bought before xmas and as completed a few hundred my on my turbo. Used it on the road for the first time yesterday when a drive side spoke snapped after 45 miles ( when ive had snapped spokes before(different wheels) its always on the bend of the spoke at the hub) this was halfway up the spoke ?? where it crossed another spoke.Never built a wheel before but ive replaced spokes with a direct replacement and tensioning as needed but on this wheel
I had to increase the tension on all the non drive side spokes to pull the wheel back in.
Did loose NDS spokes cause the failure or did riding 5 miles with the buckled wheel cause the spokes to work lose or was the broken spoke probably over tight -

Stiffer sidewalls.
I would pick the velocity deep v in 650c size my self. Quite fancy a low pro myself.
