"Thanks for your email on 16 February about the behaviour of a 254 bus driver. I was concerned to learn of the dangerous driving you mentioned and understand how distressing this must have been.

The safety of our customers and other road users is of the utmost importance to us.

Drivers are fully aware of the standards of driving we expect and have a responsibility to operate their vehicles with safety in mind at all times.

They are instructed to give all cyclists space when overtaking (about half the width of a bus, or 1.2 meters). In addition, they are also specifically instructed not to cut in on cyclists when approaching a bus stop.

I’ve passed the details of your complaint to the operating company responsible for the route, Arriva, who will fully investigate this incident.

With the information you’ve provided, they’ll be able to identify and interview the driver in question. Any action they take will be in line with their company’s internal procedures. The aim being to ensure that safety and driving standards are met at all times.

We take every report of dangerous driving extremely seriously and appreciate you taking the time to contact us"
