  • interesting but that harley street glide is a monkfish of a bike..

  • A monkfish? Whats wrong with monkfish?

Do the ride, sell the bike......

  • monkfish, not the prettiest fish ever created, and that bikes not pretty either..

    Streetglide

    Monkfish

  • You could put up with a lot for 25 grand though, and you can't see how ugly it is once you're sat on it.

  • Went to look at a PX today at a Central London scooter shop. It's been resprayed this week in white, has a refurbed engine fitted and will be finished by weekend.

Wheels are tatty and chrome work isn't perfect. But it's £2k so can forgive a fair bit of tattiness.

I like it. And there's not too much that can go wrong for that money. Thoughts? Should be fun for summer.

  • So I put a deposit down...

Any recommendations for disc lock and chain? Need to lock it in "secure" underground car park at home.

  • Almax chains have a long cut through time.

  • Not entirely true on the Almax - Camdem Council cut through mine in 30 seconds flat. They are next to impossible to bolt crop though.

  • An Almax chain is no good on a Vespa. You need a long chain to run round the floorboard and through the depressed brake pedal. Almax are too fat.
Disc PXs give you the option to run it through the wheel or between suspension and fork, but both can be unbolted

  • For disc locks the best was the Motrax Vishas, but they went bust.

  • If you have a spare D-lock I once saw an clever adaptation of BQ's suggestion where the loop is run through the depressed brake pedal (underneath the floorboards) and then around the centre stand. Means it's not only got the rear brake engaged but you can't get the stand up either. Only slight drawback is it's nearly invisible and I like visual deterrents so the fuckers move onto the next bike and leave yours alone.
Re: disk locks, I think even cheap ones are worth it, they're just so awkward to remove without a grinder/time.

  • I mentioned this a while back, but finally set a date for riding to the Nurburgring. I'll be on my ZX-6RR and a friend on his VRF400. If you want to bear witness to our spinal injuries we're going on Thursday 7th May. The more the merrier!

  • Check your insurance.

  • I need to ride the ring before I'm old enough to be terrified...

  • Unfortunately it looks like I'm gonna have to shift my Honda CLR125, it's been a really fun and utterly reliable city bike, but I'm not currently riding it enough and I've just been handed a rather large bill for my other wheels. It's done 17500 miles and I've just changed the oil about 50miles ago. Anyone interested here before I stick it on autotrader. Thinking about £1200.

  • I have a 2012 Suzuki GSX-R750, 5000 Miles, excellent condition. Black/Purple colour. Only addition is brake levers and Dan Moto exhaust which makes it sounds awesome.

    Anyone interested?

  • Fifty dorrah?

  • got my (1st ever) CBT on saturday.
Still unsure whether to get a 125 whilst doing a full licence, or to just wait and get a bike after i pass the test.

Planning on signing up for lessons in April ( i get made redundant end of this month, so will have time and cash)
Need to do my theory test too :/

Is £800 enough to get me an ok 125 that i can bin at least once and still sell for the same money in 6 months?

    i think so

consistent on road experience will stand you in good stead. try to treat each time you ride as an instructed lesson so you dont hang on to bad habits.

  • That exhaust looks nuts. Bet it sounds pretty good.

  • @NurseHolliday it does and i'll miss it :(

  • More than 30 seconds.. unless they had better discs than me.
