Had that on mine too, Apple Store on regent street fixed it without hassle. That was prob 3 years ago though...

There is no recall as such for MBPs in the UK with that problem as far as I know.

Officially no, but unofficially there is a recall, they just kept their mouth shut and offer free repair as a 'gesture of goodwill' to ensure it look like a one-off.

isn't this what I said? How do you officially know there is an unofficial recall? How many of those Macs have you brought in for repair? It doesn't hurt not to be Mr I know everything.

There isn't a recall. Make an appointment at the apple store as you normally would and see what they say, if they tell you there will be a charge, then tell them a lot of your mates have had similar problems with their same model machines and they got theirs fixed for free. Failing that, say you want to make a claim under the under the consumer rights law.

As an aside, I've been keeping my eyes on macrumours etc....what are everyone's thoughts about buying a new MBPro right now, I understand the Broadwell chips are out now and they're saying that the current MBPro's are coming to the end of their model line up...anybody heard when a 'new' version might be released?

Anyone interested in Mac Pro? Its decent spec; just needs a hard drive ..

Anyone knows under wiah situation can one get a replacement new mac from Apple? A mate got his MBPr fixed twice already, and still has the same issues... they keep testing, problems keep presisting... it's a never ending faff...

My friend got a new MBPr by being persistent, knowing his consumer rights and asking to escalate the issue to managers every time he went in.

Even he was surprised at getting a brand new one, but it worked for him. I'll ask him if there was anything specific.

I was in a similar situation with my mate I mentioned years ago where they couldn't fix my Powerbook and it took them about 6 weeks and more to have kept messing up my Mac, I was told then Apple had a policy that they have to have 3 failed attempts before they are allowed to consider a replacement. They didn't give me a replacement coz they fixed it at the 3rd attempt. I have also heard people kicking up big fuss as soon as Apple wants to open up their Macs and got replacements. My MBPs is also on 2nd attempt so would be good to know where do I stand if mine comes back with same issues (hopefully not...)

Are you in London? Be sure to make an appointment before turning, there is no point in talking to the sale people on the floor, without an appt, you are more than likely be turned away for a chat with an genius. In fact there is often little point in talking to the so called genius... but here goes...

Problem with that is it's bloody hard to get one, I was having an issue with the battery on my MBP and logged onto the Apple site every day for a fortnight and no slots were ever available... I had to cheat and get a mate who works there to slip me in... #noeuph

I know, I tried for about 2 weeks, when I askd them why, they told me it's been a really bad winter so everybody got ill and they are behind with everything etc... normal turnaround for the newer / newest models of Macs are not normally more than a couple of days, my friend had to swp her hard drive and she got hers back the next day last year. The turnaround time they gave me for both my Macs (2011 and 2014 models) are both 7-10 days...
