I think it's bulky clamp mechanisms that make up most of the weight on Tt levers.

could you run a crosstop lever? would that be lighter?

That would make a bit more sense, also shorter cable/housing = lighter, do you think you'll need to operated the brake during a hill climb?

Every competitor must ensure that his machine is so constructed, equipped and maintained as to be capable of being ridden on the road safely at all times and in all conditions. The riding position shall be set so that the competitor has good forward vision when in a competitive position. In particular but without prejudice to the general principles of this regulation:

(a) Brake levers must be secured to the handlebars in such a position as to enable the competitor to readily apply both brakes whilst holding the handlebars at their widest point. The width of handlebars shall be no less than 35 cms.

(b) On tricycles and tandem tricycles, two brakes may operate on the front wheel but otherwise the braking systems must operate independently on both front and rear wheels.

(c) Bicycles with a fixed wheel shall have a left hand threaded locking device securing the fixed sprocket. Similarly, tricycles with a fixed wheel shall have a suitable locking device or alternatively shall include an integral system as part of the design. Machines with fixed wheel require only a brake operating on the front wheel(s).

I think you'd get away with a bolt on sprocket. As mentioned, brake must be usable from the widest part of the bar so a crosstop is out. What is that scobes? Light, but I don't have much length of starting handle on the Vukas already and that would lose me 15%.

Ah, designed for extensions which have a different OD to handlebars (22.2 vs 23.8mm). Also expensive.

IR, a bolt on sprocket would be fine, nobody could argue that it isn't securely fixed. Besides it's more likely that I'd be made Pope than a bike would get that serious a scrutineering for a TT.....

Dura Ace lever from Lukas is a nice bit of kit, very light with what looks like worrying potential for drillium... Fixed up the PX brake, braking power seems pretty impressive despite what I'd heard. Wheels are the next big thing. Front is in progress, rear is still a dilemma.

Build there is about 6.1kg, so 400ish g (hopefully) more than the final complete weight. Need to buy chain (YBN, 260g) and a sprocket so it's rideable to check reach.

I'd like to strip the forks as there'd be a few gs to be saved, and hopefully black forks would look better but I'm not sure it's going to be worth the hassle.

Have frame sandblasted? Then apply clearcoat?

Fork is 360g, I'm not going to get anything lighter for less than £100-150. Paint is staying on the frame, long term I'd look at getting a Seta frame for am easy 600g saving, so don't want to do anything rash with the Vig.

Tbh I'd leave it as is for the work that's required.

Loosing the stickers could save you a couple of gms ;)

I've heard a few people say stripping carbon is a massive ball ache, although others on ww recommend using a razor blade and claim it's fine. If it was me (and I wasn't planning on ever selling the forks) I'd just have a crack at the razor method, forks are smaller than a frame. If you get bored or it doesn't work, does it really matter if they look shit?
